Ok i am not really sure but i think im going to stop posting for awhile since i keep making mistakes and somehow managed to get negative reputation Sad

not that im clueless to why it still stings a bit given that it went so fast and it was that Adultsite and my opening a topic in the wrong place that caused it all so the fault is mine and im going on a weeks posthiatus and will return in the future !! until then tnx for your patience

I did not downvote any of your posts, and I did not take particular offence at your message(s) either. I did notice though that somebody did consistently downvote your stuff.

Before you ask, there is no direct way of determining who did it, but seeing that it bothers you we will discuss various options internally, regarding the message-voting system. Smile

i did tell someone to tone down the rant about complaing ppl if you look you probably find it in the t and v -thread and i havent clashed with anyone else Smile

but other than changing the postvoting i ask you to not warn and ban for that just make it harder to downvote willy-nilly so now im signing off feeling a lot better

No worries, we don't ban for these things. But it may be possible that this came from a person who you did not directly 'clash' with (in case anybody is wondering, no, of course I won't give out any more information beyond that in public).

If Edin agrees to it, we could discuss about lengthening the interval between votes to such an extent as to discourage indiscriminate voting. I'd say 3,600 seconds (one hour) between every vote should be fine, but of course, the more you increase the value the more people might actually pay attention what they vote for.

Other than that, try not to get too discouraged. You have to consider that people may bring certain habits from other forums or websites (e.g. Reddit is notorious for this 'voting'), into this Forum as well. If the only way certain people can express their discontent is through downvotes, then it is actually sad. Not for you of course, but rather the person downvoting.

I never use that downvote system myself, and I don't think the person you're referring to is the type to do so. We may consider indeed to lengthen that interval.

I've never been a big fan of the down/upvote system. If you have something to say about someone's post or reply, you should just come out and do so (in a respectful manner). That's my opinion.

Just a brief update, we have made significant alterations to the voting system, in that from now on negative votes do NOT affect your overall reputation anymore (only positive votes do). Negative votes will still be displayed as red bars in posts, but again, they will not affect overall reputation anymore.

We have also significantly increased the delay between voting, so that should do for the time being. And to the person downvoting @SimNord, since I'm sure you are also following this thread, here's kudos for a nice job. If it wasn't for you, we would not have instituted these changes. At least not at this point. No, you won't get a reward now of course, but here's an imaginary cookie for your efforts:
