Where is my mod folder?
Hi!
I just downloaded the sims 4 with all the DLC and followed the instructions. The game is working totally fine, but I can't find the mods folder. Step 8. in the link below says that you have to move "the sims 4" folder from C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\ to C:\Program Files\The Sims 4. But in my "the sims 4" there is only these folders: _Installer, Data, Delta, EP01, EP02,EP03,FP01, Game, GP01, GP02, GP03, Soundtrack, SP01, SP02, SP03, SP04, SP05, SP06, SP07, SP08, SP09 and Support.

How can I install mods to my sims 4 then?

Re: Where is my mod folder?
Yes, I know and I saw that post before posting this. And as I said: "Step 8. in the link below says that you have to move "the sims 4" folder from C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\ to C:\Program Files\The Sims 4."
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t21806-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-4-correctly
And this means that there is no "the sims 4" folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\ because I followed the instructions that said I have to move the folder to the C:\Program Files\The Sims 4.
So I still have the issue..

Re: Where is my mod folder?
Your mods folder is in C: DOCUMENTS /Electronic arts /The Sims 4
not in program files
This is clearly described in the instruction in the mentioned link
.Package files need to be put into the following location: (My) Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods.
Hope this helps???

Re: Where is my mod folder?
Yes that's right, my mistake but.. There is no "The sims 4" folder under my "Electronic Arts" folder..
I looked at this:
C:\Users\(my username)/Documents/Electronic Arts/
(Is there maybe a way to make a "the sims 4" that I can add instead?)

Re: Where is my mod folder?
Did you actually run the game as administrator once? Did you try your computers search function? If the game is running fine, it must be somewhere

Re: Where is my mod folder?
Yes, I did run the game as administrator. When I search for the files, it is located under another user.. Because some years ago on another user I had downloaded the sims 4, but removed the game before downloading the new one. I just tried to add the old "The Sims 4" folder to C:\Users\(my username)/Documents/Electronic Arts/ and to put in some mods, but it still dosen't work?
I know I sound a bit stupid.. but thanks for trying to help me!

Do you have COMODO antivirus, by the way? And what happens when you put the mods under the "other user account"?

No, I have AVG and I did add the right locations to the exceptions list. Nothing happens when I put the mos under my other user.The_gh0stm4n wrote:idaho wrote:Yes, I did run the game as administrator. When I search for the files, it is located under another user..

You are running Windows, right? And not Mac OS with this "wineskin"-thing ?

That may be the problem, with windows 10 when you lunch a application that adds files to the computer as administrator it will sometimes make the file undetectable by the operating system. This happened to me several times you have to run the game as a normal user for it to create a file that you can see and edit. and if that does not work then I don't know what would...

Are you using "OneDrive" on your Windows 10? Allegedly, if you sign into or use OneDrive, this can interfere with folders even under Documents...

I just tried to delete some of the old files in "the sims 4" with the Mods folder and copied to my new user. And then start up the game again..
It had delete all saved lots and everthing, but when it started up there was a message box saying "Mods disabled". So I think it kinda worked, but what shall I do now?

I'm not sure if this is caused by logging into the OneDrive, or maybe there is some other program on your computer interfering. I mentioned COMODO antivirus before, because by default it is known to "sandbox" certain applications, meaning it puts certain folders into a special subfolder very deep inside the C: drive, where it cannot be properly recognized anymore. Of course, there may be more programs out there which do such a thing.
As for the mods, there is somewhere an in-game option with which you can re-activate them.
