Can I have torrented expansions on a legal base game?

I have the sims 3 base game and showtime. However I just torrented the late night expansion. When I try to install the late night expansion, it says I dont own the base game. I do, it's just not cracked and I do not want to get the cracked version if there is another way to approach the situation.
So how do I put cracked expansions on a non cracked game?

Hello,
Welcome to the forum.
Normally you can, with a few exceptions. You can't use the pirated expansions on a Steam version, and you can't use them on a "Deluxe" edition.
I don't know about your reasons about not wanting a cracked version, but essentially, it's not going to make a difference. You can transfer you saves, and if you have any official store content, you're not going to be able to use it anyone once you crack the game in any way.
