SIMS 3 exe file problem
I've downloaded The Sims 3 before but deleted it about a year ago. I decided to download it again (mainly because I want to play Pets!), and I didn't have much trouble downloading the base game. But when I tried to download Generations and Pets, I started setup and got an error message beginning with: SetupNew\setup.cpp 140...
I've found various threads about this issue, but I actually don't really understand them! They all say that I have to uninstall the game. Why do I need to do this? And what can I do to make it work?
Thanks.

Hello,
Which program did you use to extract the files you downloaded?
You'll need to use winRAR, if you use any other program, the files can get messed up resulting in these kind of errors.

WinZip?
If I do it using WinRAR will it work? And does it matter that I downloaded the base game using WinZip, or will I need to uninstall it and do it all again?

Hello,
If your base game is installed and working, you don't have to do it again. Your expansionpacks should install error free if extracted with winRAR.

Re: SIMS 3 exe file problem
Thanks very much. Have followed all the instructions right to the end! Now the only problem that I have is that when I go to update the game before applying the final Crack is that it gets right to the end of the update and then says the update is invalid? All the threads I've followed direct you to the latest ultimate fix, but I thought I'd already downloaded the latest version?

Hello,
Updating manually should solve this problem. Don't open the launcher to update, execute the manual patch in stead, then copy the crack from the fix.
