Does using your game Library require you to log in to the Gallery? Or is it entirely local?

Library is local.

When you download something from the gallery using original game, it lands in your library. So then you can use it in cracked game. All library files (except for some default items from Maxis) are in "Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Tray".

The library is also the place where your own sim/house-creations are saved. Therefore the content can be accessed without any active internet connection at all. The only time it is necessary to sign into the Gallery is if you either want to download something from the Gallery, or if you want to upload something to the Gallery.

The former is relevant for pirates too, while the latter isn't.

On that note, I had been playing in my game when I decided I wanted to browse the Gallery. So I shut down the game, switched into Origin mode, and re-launched the game. The Gallery is gone! Like, I don't mean it's empty, I mean F4 ( https://i.imgur.com/fmqcnDV.jpg ) takes me to my Library and that's it. Gallery is not even an option. There's no tab for it, nothing. Like it doesn't exist.

I have no idea what happened or how to fix it. I tried restarting my computer, but that didn't do any good.  Wat. Help

Ooh, I'm a silly kitty. In my over-the-top efforts to make sure I didn't accidentally go online while playing, I had disabled online content in my game options. I didn't realize those settings carried over between installations.

Solved.

So first off, due to some problem with the Forum host, these messages (not just in the thread here) kept disappearing and re-appearing.  Uh oh  And the settings carry over, because you are using one and the same folder under Documents. I suppose you could see that as a disadvantage of "not having to do the folder renaming trick".

Good on you though, problem solved and topic closed!  Carlos is tha man
