Crashing while creating sims

As soon as I open the game and start to create sims, the game crashes when I try to select their aspirations. It won't let me save my household without selecting an aspiration. Any way around this?

Only solution I've seen is to uninstall and reinstall. Trying to find out why this is happening so I can try to fix it without having to go through the entire 4 hour process again.
