How Do I Swap to the Latest Version? [SOLVED] Empty How Do I Swap to the Latest Version? [SOLVED]

So I still have the old version of The Sims 4 installed from here from before Vampires was released; the msot recent DLC on it was City Living. I know a new version from a new source was released that included Vampires and the Toddler update, but I could never wrap my head around it so I just gave up and stopped playing.

I wanna get back into the Sims 4 with the most up to date version possible, so what do I need to do? What do I need to delete and uninstall and how do I do it? What do I need to download and from where and what are the new install instructions?

Apologies for making a topic about this because I'm sure the instructions are somewhere, but I have a tendacy to mess things up and get things installed/uninstalled wrong which just results in a waste of time and a lot of frustration. Thank you very much for any help offered.

Hi there!  Very Happy

If you have until City Living, and provided you did not uninstall the Sims 4, you can safely update to Vampire+Toddler and Parenthood as well without deleting anything.

Since the Vampire update, it might seem abit 'tricky' to get the game running 'smoothly'. Here's what you need to do:

  1. Download both Vampire and Parenthood pack from here.
  2. Update to the Vampire + Toddler. (Copy + Paste. I don't recommend 'moving or cut + copy though. But feel free to 'move' with whichever you're comfortable with)
  3. **Rename the Game folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 4 to Game_ and install the Parenthood pack. Or, you can install the Parenthood pack and THEN rename the folder.
  4. After renaming, download the endless loading fix here and THEN update to the latest patch here.

Do keep me updated if you encounter any problems or still unsure. Also, remember to move out your Sims 4 folder in Documents so you can test the updates with a 'fresh' game first.

Thank you very much for your help!! However somethings gone a bit weird. I had no issue updating and then loading the game and consequently creating a new Sim. However, after I selected a world and a house to live in, I experienced the infinte/endless loading bug. Like, I've got the game minimized now and its still loading.

I don't understand why though. I renamed the game folder to Game_. I installed the endless loading fix and I'm updated to the latest patch you linked to. Im wondering if it might be an issue with my CC so I'm going to close the game and disable all CC before trying to start a new game again.

The majority of my CC is just clothes and furniture, with a couple of mods like Get To School included, so I don't see how they could interfere but I'll update this post or quote your next post (whichever comes first) with the results of disabling the CC.

Edit: I tried disabling the CC but the bug happened again. Should I try to reinstall the loading fix? Something might have gone wrong when installing it initially. If I do reinstall the loading fix, would I need to reinstall the latest update as well?

Edit 2: SO I realise now that I'm a complete and utter moron who can't read. When I installed the endless fix, I did so copying the bin file into the Game_ folder, not by dragging the Game folder as a whole into the folder keeping it alongside the Game_ folder. I totally misread the post in my eagerness to get the latest updates.

I've reinstalled the fix and it allowed me to load a new household perfectly fine. I haven't done any extensive testing in regards to how the game plays in the long run, but for now it seems to be working fine. Apologies for my idiocy aha. Thank you for the help you've given its been massively useful!
