Can't find GameVersion folder anywhere to delete it. [CLOSED]
Hi,
I've done everything in order and correctly. When I try to open the game, it says it needs updated via Origin. I've read before that I need to delete "GameVersion", but I've looked absolutely everywhere in my files and can't find it. I had to redownload everything and I remember seeing it one of the other times I had to redo it all, but this time it's nowhere to be found.

it is not a Folder. It is a text document. at the bottom of all the folders, there are a couple of text documents.

It's under Documents\EA\The Sims 4 and not in your installation folder.celestialmoon wrote:Hi,

In addition, you can use the search function under Windows 10. For example, while on the desktop look at the prompt in bottom left where it says "type here to search", type Gameversion.txt, and it should show you the file.
In general though, it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the relevant filepaths/folder locations, in the long run.

Thank you both, I found it. I was thinking it was in the installed folders rather than the Electronic Arts one.

No problem. Are they any other errors/issues you're having at the moment?celestialmoon wrote:Thank you both, I found it. I was thinking it was in the installed folders rather than the Electronic Arts one.

Actually, yeah. I know I'm being a pain with all my questions, so I'm sorry about that. I have the base game running smoothly now. However, when I copy and paste the expansions into the folder with my base game, they don't show up in my game. I started with Get To Work and tried to see if I needed to install anything else but couldn't find an option for it.

No worries about the questions. Is the DLC grey-ed out in the main menu? If yes, try to 1) Move out your Sims 4 folder in Documents or 2) Move your Sims 4 folder to Program Files/Desktop. Just a heads up in case you're still unsure. You need to copy + paste the DLCs to C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 4 and not the extracted folder.celestialmoon wrote:Actually, yeah. The game downloads show up in my torrent download folder. I extract them there and then copy and paste them to The Sims 4 folder I have in my Program Files(x86) where my base game is. I copied and pasted the extracted Get To Work DLC to The Sims 4 folder but it acts as if I pasted nothing in there. I can try and move it to Desktop and see if that registers it.

You can also check to see if the folder EP01 (Get to Work) is inside your Sims 4 folder in Program Files(x86). If yes, that means it has been pasted. You can run the game to see if the DLCs shows up.
Always remember to either turn off anti-virus or exclude the folders in both programs.

Okay. The installation Guide, all the rar files and the setup files do not belong in there. Cut and paste them to a place where you can keep them safe.( Everything after support.) Than click on Game file, Bin ( which is in the game file ) and right click on the TS4 exe. Run as administrator. Game should start.
Since you are running the 64 bit windows , you can also move the Sims 4 File to only Program files.
Did you create a new shortcut after moving the Game file?

Oh honey, you need to run the setup.exe to install the Sims 4 which by default, will install it to Program Files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sime 4.
After that then you can install the DLCs to that path file.

I think the game was installed, as she stated the base game is running smoothly. ( I hope? ) I just do not know why all those files are in the folder.

Apparently moving to Program Files still 'disabled" the DLCs. Well then, do keep us updated if the DLCs work after deleting those files mentioned above.
I think she misread the instructions or thought they were supposed to be placed there as well.

The base game runs smoothly and without any issues. I downloaded the expansions through my torrent program. I then read something about copying and pasting them into the program folder that has The Sims 4 game in it after extracting them. The base game is fine, I just don't know how to get the expansions to show up in the game.

Yes, in this case, as Loonieloose mentioned above, you need to get 'rid' of the setup files in your Sims 4 folder. This is my where all my Sims 4 base game and DLCs are installed to. Yours should instead be Program Files(x86)\The Sims 4.celestialmoon wrote:The base game runs smoothly and without any issues. I downloaded the expansions through my torrent program. EDIT:
Apparently this issue is redundant. People seriously need to check their threads and update them.
