Sims 3 Is Not Responding Constant
Ok so I've been looking everywhere for a fix for this!
I'm going to describe in as much detail as to how my installation went and what I did between getting it and now.
I've had the Sims 3 for a total of 2 days.
I installed the base game, Seasons, Supernatural, Pets, and Into The Future.
First: My system locale was set to Japanese when installing Seasons and Supernatural so they were installed in Japanese but I was able to fix that in the registry.
No issues after doing that.
Second: I installed custom content like hair, lots, furniture, etc.
No issues
Third: I had to move my install path to Documents so mods would work by moving the files and editing the registry so the game knew it was installed there instead of Program Files (x86). I had about 4 mods and they worked fine
No issues
Fourth: I installed Ambitions and Generations and a whole lot more mods
Issues began.
The game would freeze as soon as my sims began doing things.
Now the freeze would happen like this:
My mouse still moved
Effects like bushes blowing in the wind still moved
Buttons still made noise but did nothing
Hitting the Windows key (I am running Windows 8 ) would make my mouse appear normal as if it were trying to minimize Sims 3 but it wasn't
I would try CTL + ALT + DELETE but task manager wouldn't open
The only way to fix it was to shut off my laptop.
I uninstalled both Ambitions and Generations and all mods that were added after it stopped working.
All I have now is what I had before the issues began.
The issues I'm having now are similar but more annoying...
I can get the game to start fine, but it will freeze for 5 minutes at a time randomly (frequent) and if I click, unlike before where I could still hit buttons on the HUD, the screen becomes white and it tells me the game is not responding.
Things I know it cannot be:
Mods; they worked fine before and I only have a whopping 3 package files in my folder
System requirements; my game ran perfectly yesterday
Memory; I've checked my available memory while in game
Graphics settings; they're all pretty low
Cache; I cleared it all several times
Space on computer; I have been deleting files and programs and now have MORE room than I did before
Is this a file corruption?
Overload on custom content? (I deleted a A LOT of it so there isn't much anymore)
Should I just backup my saves, custom content, and mods and freshly install the game?
//EDIT
UPDATE:
I backed up all of my mods, saves, and custom content and deleted the base game.
After a reinstall it appeared to be working fine... I played for about 45 minutes smoothly with no issues.
Until I went into buy mode. The game froze over and over one after the other for at least 10 minutes each.
Anyone know what is going on?

You moved your install-path to Documents ????
So you moved the folder The Sims 3 from Program Files to Documents ??

It looks like the mods are the culprit.
As I am a bit confused now in which folder your gameprogress is recorded (Normally user\your username\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3) I suggest that you rename that folder The Sims 3 to The Sims 3_old and see what the game does then.

I actually began experimenting some more and I'm a bit confused as to why but I think it may actually be the cache. Clearing it again fixed the issue and I even added more mods and haven't had any issues what so ever. And yes mods will not work unless the game directory is Documents for whatever reason.

Maybe you got OneDrive active (which is known to mess with the folders at times), or you have some security software that sandboxes/moves the Documents-folder (I've seen that once or twice on The Sims 4). If you want to have a look at that, then I guess it'll be up to you.
But the game should work fine if installed under C:\Program files (x86). Out of curiosity, would you mind providing us a screenshot or two, of where exactly you are now putting your mods?

Re: Sims 3 Is Not Responding Constant
UPDATE: I did a complete fresh reinstall of the base game and it works fine now. There must have been some corruption when I tried to install Ambitions.
