Sims 4 always stops loading after I start it up [SOLVED]
Hello, I have recently installed The sims 4 and I tried starting it up, but every time I do it freezes at the point where it's loading and there is a spinning plumbob and text underneath. It's really frustrating and I would like help.

Hi there and welcome to the forum!
Are you just playing the base game or did you install any DLCs as well? Try to start the game in windowed mode next time and see if you can get pass the plumbob.

How do I make it windowed? I only know how to do it in game by the settings.

I see. It might be possible there's either a missing DLCs or corrupted one. You can double check the folders in your installation folder to make sure. Also, check to see if all your drivers are up to date as well. Currently the game folders that we have are:
To make the game windowed -> Go to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 -> Open up Options.ini and search for fullscreen = 1. Change it to 0 so now it will be fullscreen = 0. Save it and run the game as administrator.
- EP01 - EP03, FP01
- GP01 - GP05
- SP01 - SP12

I checked the installation folder and it seems like all of the folders you said are in there, I also tried minimizing the window but it didn't work. Also, I should maybe say that the first time I tried starting the game it did not freeze at the spinning plumbob. It froze when I was closing what looked like a small window over this screen:
I did not look very closely at what it was so I am not sure what it said but it got past the spinning plumbob at the first start.

Oh!
Hahaha, my bad. If the last pack you installed was indeed the Toddler's stuff pack, then it might cause the freeze. Have you tried running the game with a fresh sims 4 folder in Documents? You can rename the current one to sims4backup and then run the game.

The last EP I installed was fitness stuff, since that was the last EP I was supposed to install is what it said in the instructions
Ok, I tried deleting that folder, and it got past the spinning plumbob again but it froze at the fitness stuff part of the window again like it did the first time

Ah, it might be a good idea to post your own photo instead from google so we can cross-check which eps you have installed. Ver 1.33 (latest) is actually Toddler's Stuff pack. So did you install the update? Or perhaps downloaded the wrong one.HelpIJustWantToPlaySims4 wrote:I removed the folder again and checked my version, it says "Version 1.33.38.1020"

Re: Sims 4 always stops loading after I start it up [SOLVED]
When the game freezes on the last welcome-screen - should be toddler stuff in your case - there is a mismatch between your Sims-folder in Documents and the one in Program Files.
First try a new folder in Documents\Electronic Arts by renaming the folder The Sims 4 (or whatever it is in your language) to The Sims 4_old.
Then restart your game and you'll see all welcome screens for all installed packs again.
Still freezes on the last welcome screen ?
In that case we must trick the game in "believing" that all packs are installed with THIS NEW FOLDER
Download it, extract with Winrar, rename (if necessary) to the foldername in your language. Put it in Documents\Electronic Arts
Now start your game again as an Administrator. As in this folder ALL packs are installed there won't be any welcome screens but you might see something simular to this
Inspite of the message, the uninstalled Packs will not be downloaded of course, but the game should start when you click on OK. It also proves that some packs are missing anyway.
You can then add your Saves, Tray, Mods from the folder you renamed The Sims 4_old.
Still problems, download NEW GAME FOLDER
Again, extract with Winrar, delete the existing folder Game (and Game_ if you have it) in Program Files (x86)\The Sims 4.
Replace with the downloaded folder Game.
Start the game as Administrator. Default language will be English.
