Something truly weird with Zl Origin. Cannot change colors of items.

  Hi everyone,

I have something totally strange happening. I play both versions, The G4TW, which is patched up to fitness, and ZL Origin, which includes Toddlers. Both use the same game files in Documents, I normally remove the game version.txt file.

I build a house with the ZL origin version running, BUT when I want to change the colour of anything in the house, it works once, and once only. so I can change the color of say one window, after that nothing. All the color swatches are there, but nothing changes. I can however place an item, but have to choose the colour before placing it.This applies to custom content and ea content.

I removed all the mods, no change. fixed game via zl origin, restarted the computer, everything. No change.

So I fired up the G4TW version from my external hard drive. (I had all mods back in the Documents /electronic art /the sims 4, and I had deleted the game version file beforehand, since the G4TW version is only patched up to fitness stuff.)

Everything works perfectly. No problems changing colours whatsoever.

the problem seems to apply only to buy and build items, because I created a new sim with custom content stuff, without any problems.

Tarac, do you by any chance have an explanation for this?

Have you tried to update the G4TW version with Toddler Stuff ?
The ZLOrigin version is 100% equal to the official Origin version.
Once you have updated G4TW with Toddler Stuff you can copy/paste the Game folder from G4TW (renamed to f.e. Game_G4TW) to your ZLOrigin installation folder.
You can then start the ZLOrigin version via folder Game and the G4TW version via folder Game_G4TW. Both versions are at present 1.33.38.1020.
Whenever the versions start to differ again, you can simply copy/paste Default.ini from Game\Bin to Game_G4TW.\Bin You don't have to delete GameVersion anymore.

I am a bit hesitant updating to toddlers stuff. For the moment I just need to choose colours before placing them. Will probably choose to update the G4TW version soon. The internet is playing up on this side of the world. I know you can have two Game folders in order to play off line as well, but when I wanted to update the on line game, there were problems. I know I did something wrong, but am too lazy to try again.

If you are familiar with the program WinMerge or want to learn working with it, you could compare the entire folder of ZlOrigin's Sims 4 with the G4TW version of Sims 4. Assuming something is slightly wrong with the ZlOrigin-version (I can't quite imagine it, but still), the program can highlight file differences. In theory you could then take the relevant files from G4TW's installation and copy/paste them over the ZlOrigin version. Then see if your in-game glitch is 'resolved'.

I have managed to solve the problem. and it seems to be mod related. Jup, again. What I do noy understand is why this particular mod did not have any effect on the G4TW version. I have them narrowed down to 6 possible ones, must find the real culprit.

The minute I posted that, I realized what I wrote. BUT, after working through those mods, I noticed that the error is not mod related. I tested them all, no change in the weirdness.  Whenever I click on a different colour, it seems as if the game does not register my wish.The item remains as it was. However, if I double click on the different colour, it changes. AND, after I double clicked once, I can change colours as normal. I have to repeat the double click on every item, I want to change. This is a huge improvement. It is NOT the mouse. I tested with three different mice and even with no mouse. Same result. Any Ideas?
