The Sims 3 help.[SOLVED] Empty The Sims 3 help.[SOLVED]

Post by Guest Fri 20 Jan 2012, 11:20

Hi there,
I've never posted anything here, so I just want to start out with a thank you for these lovely games.

I have all the Sims 3 games from you and the and latest fix, but now I'm not sure how to do it right. This place https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly says I shall install all the games without crack and then apply crack from the latest fix, fine. But what about World Adventures and Outdoor Living Stuff? Do I have to do all the things it says? And how about the sequence, is it just Base game, World Adventures, High-End Loft Stuff, Ambitions, Fast Lane Stuff, Late Night, Outdoor Living Stuff, Generations, Town Life and Pets?
Really hope you can help :-)

Hello,
The order in which you install the expansions is unimportant as long as you install one of these first: Generations, Town Life stuff or Pets (I recommend installing Pets first). After that, you can install them in any order you like. You can also install them in the order you mentioned, but that'll take more time because the installer will want to patch your game before installing each expansion. If you install everything G4TW-style, it'll be faster because you start out with an almost fully up-to date game and the only times you'll have to download and install a patch is before you install Pets and while you apply the fix.
Assuming you are referring to changing the SKU version as described in the Outdoor Livingstuff and World Adventures #Installation Guide, you only have to follow those steps if you get a region error during the installation of these packs.
I hope this answers your questions, please let us know the result.

Thank you for the quick answer!
But, well, I still have trouble...

1: I installed The Sims 3 base game.
2: I started TS3 Pets, it made some updates and then installed it.
3: Then I installed Town Life and Generations just to be sure, and thereafter all the other games. Outdoor Livingstuff and World Adventures was the latest I installed, again to be sure. (And I did not use any crack at all!)
4: Now I applied all the crack from Ultimate fix, except the crack from the crack folder, because the fix said I should wait.
5: I started TS3 Launcher, but it wouldn't update, so I applied the last crack, and now it started. But as it was updating just fine and nearly done, it came with this message: "Updatingerror: Illegal file found" (translated from another language)

So, what to do now? I've tried several times, and it just won't work. I've spend much time, trying to get these games to work correct, so hope you can help again...

Hello,

You don't need to apply any cracks before updating, but afterwards.
Please use this manual patch first: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1870-can-t-update-the-sims-3-to-v129-fix-manual-patch

When you're done patching, open the "# Crack" folder in the Fix and open the folder inside there. You'll see an .exe and a .dll file. Copy both files to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\bin and choose "Replace" on the pop-up that appears, telling you the files already exist.
Now start the game and... ENJOY playing!

Please let us know the result.

Hi again

I've done all the things the fix says, I have all the cracks from the ultimate fix and I know how to do it all and I didn't apply any crack before updating. The problem is it won't work...

I also forgot to tell something that may be the problem. In my destinationfolder where I installed the games, there's a diffrence in number of files for each game:
The base game (C > Program files > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Game > Bin) have 9 folders and 29 files or whatever it is.
Late Night, Ambitions, Fast Lane, High End Loft Stuff, Outdoor Living Stuff and World Adventures have 7 folders and 27 files. (well, World Adventures have only 26 files)
But Town Life, Pets and Generations (the first games I installed) have only 10 files. No folders. It seems weird.

By the way, I had all the games installed before Pets came out, and it all worked just fine. There was some trouble getting it all installed, but it worked until I got Pets. Now I havent played for a while after I uninstalled it all and can't remember what I did last time to get it work. But I know I've done everything like the Fix says.

Hello,

There's nothing wrong with the installation files, it's normal.
But, did you do as I said? Please re-read my previous comment carefully.

Hello

My fault... I'm installing all the games now, and if it wont update, I will try with the manual update, thank you! Then I will tell how it worked, hope it works :-)

//EDIT

I have a question before I proceed... I've now installed all the games.
Now I will apply the cracks, but Generation, Town Life and Pets do not
have any files called "TS3" and "TSLHost.dll" in their installation
folder, so there's nothing to replace with. Before i uninstalled the
game, i just placed the files in the folder, even though there were
nothing to replace it with. But after i had uninstalled all the games,
these files were still in the folder, as if they only had bin left over.
Perhaps thats why the message ”Illegal file found” came when i wanted
to update the game...
So I'm not sure what to do :-)

//EDIT

Hi again!

I
just want to say thank you for your patience and help. I think it was
me doing something wrong. Maybe I did apply the cracks before updating,
but now I updated first and it all work! I'm in the game, and it look
just fine! Thank you so much, are so happy now :-)

And thanks again for the games, it's just great.

Hello,
Good to hear its working! I have a few considerations for you for the next time you apply the fix (when the next expansion or patch comes out).
As you've found out, no files should be copied to the bin folders of Generations, Town Life Stuff and Pets. These files all go to the base game bin instead.
Also, the fix only has one crack which is located in the #crack folder. The other files found in the corresponding base game and expansion folders are original files which are applied before patching so the installer thinks you're patching a legal game.
Anyway, your game is working now, so happy simming. :sims 1:
