What are your thoughts on Simblrs? Empty What are your thoughts on Simblrs?

Post by Guest Fri 08 Sep 2017, 02:24

Hey guys! Lately I have been doing a lot of writing and creating stories, and The Sims 4 is fueling my inspiration. I’d love to start a simblr to share it with the world, but I’m a bit freaked out about it because of the whole “pirate” thing. I could just shut up about it and hope for the best, but I don’t entirely feel comfortable with that. What are your thoughts on this and do any of you have simblrs? I’m conflicted and I’d appreciate your opinions  Very Happy

PS: I hope I'm posting this in the right place  I'm new here.

I have a simblr (I won't link it) and so far, nobody has even suspected that I have a cracked version of the game. The only time someone might is if you share a build or a sim with the tray files because it doesn't show an origin ID. When that happens I just say my game is glitched.

If you share cracked sims or lots, it will say that RLD! is your origin username. That's not the case if a certain alternative to this is used though.

That's good to know, but I doubt I'd be sharing builds cause I quite suck at it. Sims on the other hand I might, so thanks for the advice.

Hello and welcome to the Forum,

If you don't mention your game is cracked, then that is already an important first step. The question now is, as the previous posters rightly pointed out: do you intend to actually share creations made on your cracked game? If so, then people can indeed see the RLD!, and from there conclude your game is cracked. I don't know if using zlOrigin allows you to use a custom name, but in case you want to give it a try, in the section here you can find some tutorials.
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/f46-the-sims-4-tips-tricks

In case you want to stick with the RELOADED-version of The Sims 4...I looked at the crack files, but in the RldOrigin.ini file there is no option to change the username, unlike in many cracked Steam games. I think I recall a post where a user hinted at something though, let me see if I can find it real quick.

Edit: there you go.
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t23419-want-to-change-rld-name-to-misfit203-to-identify-me-as-creator-of-my-self-made-sims-solved

Note that this was posted over a year ago, and the currently circulating cracks look slightly different. If you still want to experiment with the RldOrigin.dll though, don't forget to make a backup of the file beforehand!

zlorigin does indeed allow you to change your name, just make sure that it's not already taken by an actual origin account.

I think for now I'd be more focused on storytelling, but I'll give that hex thing a try, for peace of mind at least.

I haven't being able to make zlorigin work, but the truth is I gave up very quickly. I always go the easy route, lol.

You're welcome, and on a personal note, I'm finding it very alienating that the general "climate" these days is such that you need to be so careful with what you share online and what not; in the case of this thread here, links to these simblr's. Another common example are those user account-deletion requests, with the implication being that the user in question "does not want to be associated anymore with a piracy site" (note that in general we do NOT delete user accounts, at all, because people - usually with a bad history - would abuse the 'feature' and keep spamming us with such requests).

Since I believe things will only get worse, maybe it's best to enjoy the entire thing while it lasts.

I agree. I’ve been lurking around Tumblr for a while, but only for cc hunting. I’m still on the fence about this, so I might not go through with it after all.
The thing is I’m Argentinian, and piracy isn’t that frown upon here in real life. In fact, I only know a couple of people that actually buy games, and even then it’s only when they want to play on multiplayer. So the problem really is online.
BTW, I tried editing the dll with a hex editor like you suggested, but unfortunately it broke the crack, so that’s not an option anymore.

Maybe you (also) have to edit the RldOrigin_ext.dll and/or RldOrigin_x64.dll and/or RldOrigin_x64_ext.dll. I myself don't care enough about the issue though, to test this myself.

I myself also bought games which are singleplayer-only or "singleplayer-mostly", when I genuinely liked the game and wanted to support the developers. There are not many such games, though (needless to say).

ZLOrigin changes your origin ID, but stop right there. What if they look up that ID on the gallery and don't find your stuff and creations or find out that your ID doesn't even exist? This is the real problem here.

You can create a free ID there, which has the same username. Also not everyone uploads their creations on there. Some do it only to online sites and never to the gallery.

Like the previous poster said, you can have an Origin basegame of The Sims 4 but your Origin ID may not show up in the Gallery search. Which can mean you just didn't upload anything (yet).

KidDude wrote:(...) or find out that your ID doesn't even exist?

To my knowledge, it's not possible for an outsider to find out whether a particular Origin ID "exists" or not. I have an Origin basegame myself, yet my name (not my Forum username, btw) doesn't show up in the Gallery search, because I did not upload anything.

Also, unless your simblr becomes super-popular I doubt anybody will care. On occasion you may get a hostile comment here and there, but if you're not a celebrity of sorts, most readers won't care.

I have a simblr and I also share CC (mostly recolors of EA meshes and such) and for now I had zero problem at all. I'm enjoying it in my spare time and I play the game because I like the dynamics my characters go through, I don't really care about public and followers and such. I have a few, and I know they're there for my recolors but I don't really give too much importance to that. I share what I want.

Well, I love that don't care attitude! I think I might follow your lead on that. I don't care about the following either, not even on my personal blogs. I just love tumblr a lot, even though it's problematic sometimes.  Very Happy

It is, but, honestly, I don't care enough about the drama to take part in it or waste time in it. I happened to read some because some of the people I follow talked about it but that's it. My simblr is the place I archive my sim memories and maybe some stuff I want to keep in game. That is all!
If you decide to share the link I'll gladly follow you, I love simblrs that have stories in it!

Yeah, I have actually decided to go ahead with it. I tested the waters first with an edit and thought whatever, it's not like I got anyone's attention. I don't wanna link it here though. But I'll send you an ask Wink

I have a simblr and use content from both the cracked and zlo version depending on the patch level. As a general rule I don't upload sims or builds (they're a pain in the butt to find in the tray folder anyway), but I do a lot of object and cas goodies. My follower base is slowly climbing. You do want followers. If you're like me, you crave the attention, even if it's just a little, for the hard work you put into your projects. Uploading what you want is the best option and when people like it...that creates a warm, fuzzy feeling.. Very Happy Good luck.

Of course it's nice when people appreciate you, but I don't wanna get hung up on it. I just wanna have fun, and if people like my stuff that's a bonus. Good luck with your simblr too!

Well, first things first Im not a simblr lol but I can tell you this; based on the things I be reading on simsecret(yep it's bad but also you learn the other side of the simblrs community *cough* creepy at times) and I've been on tumblr for like 3 or 6 yrs I lost track. They can be 2 faced; double standard(in terms of the whole cc subject. And it seems and I can see the increase of this patreon users. It's ridiculous. I don't support patreon for simmers. It's like cc makers went from tsr then it got a little better then adfly(I dont mind adfly) and or donating(which it ain't bad either) but now it's patreon this or that. It's ridiculous. Like I'm thinking paywalls. Also no one gotta know that your game is pirated it can be taboo on the simblr community. Not all but some people are eh up there No shit, Sherlock.  I think you should just start your own simblr for fun and not worry much about notes and likes. I think that stuff is stressful. There's more to life than that. I tip my fedora. BTW there might be anons that can be nasty to you; but ignore them. If you feel the need to tell them something do so but it's best to ignore them. There's trolls everywhere unfortunately. Hopefully this didn't come off badly.

I absolutely agree. Even people with legit games are a bit angry about Patreon and even adfly. I've seen some people rave about this on tumblr a lot.
I did decide to go ahead with it and so far I've had one person ask me something about whether or not my origin was working, and that's it. I dodged it quite okay lol. So yeah, I guess it's just about having fun. I even shared some CC I made when I reached 100 followers, so it's been cool so far. I still have a bit of anxiety sometimes, but it's not like I'm making money off of it or anything, so it's alright. No mean anons though yet, but some really kind people instead. Guess I'm the nice side of the community IAmSoHappyEmergahwd
