Strange case of Cats and Dogs Expansion Pack glitch?

Hi again! I sadly found out that pets downloaded from Gallery don't show up at all in CAS nor in neighbourhood. They just disappear. I've been researhcing a bit in this forum and it seems there were other players with the same problem. When in CAS, going to gallery and combining/merging/replacing any option as regards the household with pets will not load properly, it's like nothing happened.
I also found out that when you try to fuse/merge/combine (I mean, not replacing all the current household in CAS but adding pets) the previously created sims/pets become greyed (making them unselectable) and a strange message appears above their icon "Option unavailable while playing wtih genetics".

So that's it, we can create pets but not use the downloaded ones. Is there any solution, at least temporary? I really want to play with the pet I downloaded! Please, help me Sad

Well, I've been trying these solutions which usually work to fix other common problems, you know:

Moving MODS folder out of the documents folder.
Moving the whole Los Sims 4 folder out of my documents.
Reinstalling Cats&Dogs
Reinstalling Cats&Dogs and the following packs until 1.44.83.
Redownloading, Uninstalling and Reinstalling EVERYTHING from zero, exactly as the guide here says (took me 7 hours to do everything, carefullyreading step by step just in case).
Using Sims4Studio or something like that? in order to bacth mods or whatever

Nothing at all, there's no solution Strange case of Cats and Dogs Expansion Pack glitch? Icon_sad

I may ask whether you know other sites where I can download everything and try again? (fat person something like that lol?)
Does the one that are independent packs work nowadays?
And the all in one installer? I read there exists those installers but it was a long time ago.

@Alany_Mogad,

If there was something wrong (on a bigger scale) with the game, you probably would experience bigger problems than that, a.k.a. using the validator shouldn't be necessary in this instance.

People have been posting about this in the past, and as of now I myself couldn't give any real solution for it.

I'll attempt to do some testing shortly, but other than that my advice would be to let the matter rest and try creating pets on your own. I assume that is still working...?

I did see parts of the early report though (before you hit the "Edit"-button) and according to that, a couple of things seem messed up? Note that under Windows OS, files and folders are not always copied "properly". Had the issue myself once, until I used a Superadmin-account on Windows 10. Can't say I regret it so far; maybe you want to consider the same if you have WIndows 10.

Other than that, there is a G4TW-approved "all-in-one" version of The Sims 4, so you don't necessarily need to re-install the older/individual downloads:

Woah. That's a lot of wrong files, I'm amazed the game worked at all. Did you skip Seasons DLC? Because it's not there.

Fastest way to fix this:
delete "Game" folder
apply Seasons from G4TW
apply Update 1.44.83.1020 from G4TW

Hold on with that super admin account. I generally don't recommend it but if what I said won't help you can try it.

Ok, I tried everything except the superadminstuff (for reasons I have read that make my computer an easytarget for unwanted vulnerability) besides I don't have that command in my computer somehow. Imma quit and study for my next semester which is going to be hell (I'm almost finishing my career, I think Very Happy

). Besides I replicated some of those pets by myself already so there is no use unless I want the other ones.
I want you to know that the problem is still ongoing but one day imma come back and keep on with this (except someone find a solution before it happens, let's hope so xP). Until then, thank you for your time and patience!

In itself, I would not necessarily agree with the assessment that the account is more vulnerable. You would have to be as careful as with any other Windows account, maybe even slightly more careful.

Of course, if something does happen, then chances are you're in trouble. Haters gonna hate

For me, I have decided I'm not dealing with the antics of Windows OS anymore, such as the dumb UAC or these constant file/folder copying issues. I get why these measures are there (it's to try and help the average user, who may not necessarily be too versed with using computers). Still, I myself am rolling with that special Windows account.

Have you considered using ZLOrigin, for The Sims 4?
