Dont know what I've done when applying the latest patch Empty Dont know what I've done when applying the latest patch

Post by Guest Sun 09 Sep 2018, 02:32

I downloaded and applied the latest patch (the Caribbean update) and It seems like I've royally messed up my folder somehow and I don't know how. Here is the validation:

report:

I have all the DLC's downloaded, and did everything according to the must read installation guide, and everything was working until I installed the patch. I did everything as told in the guide, but I must have messed something up along the way.

As to what's going on in my game: my sims just stand around and will only "go here". Other than that, they do absolutely nothing. I don't know what I did wrong, any help would be much appreciated!

Looks good. Delete "Game_" folder just to clean up. Your problem sounds like a problem with mods. Open "Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4" and move mods/CC out of "Mods" folder. If that doesn't help you can also:
- delete "localthumbcache.package",
- delete files inside "cache" folder (skip if doesn't exist),
- delete files inside "cachestr" folder.

I'm not sure that causes problems, but also the file Origins.ini should be removed from the folder Game\Bin.

"game/bin/origins.ini" is just a text file. Sure, it shouldn't be there since it belongs to previous crack, but it won't make any difference.

I'm not so sure about the (maybe minor) influence of text files.
When I delete the file Default.ini from Game\Bin and the file Gameversion.txt from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4, a saved game still runs fine but a side-effect is that the plumbob above my Sim is no longer green but black.
Also a new file Gameversion.txt is not generated.

Dont know what I've done when applying the latest patch No-game-version_orig
no version number in the bottom line of the main menu

Dont know what I've done when applying the latest patch Black-plumbob_orig
black plumbob

Even after adding the original GameVersion.txt, the plumbob is still black.
Only when I also add Default.ini again, the plumbob returns to green.

That's because those are game files. And the game tries to read them so when they're gone you get bugs.

"game/bin/origins.ini" however is a RELOADED crack file. RELOADED crack tries to read it, nothing else. But since CODEX cracks the game now, nothing tries to read that file.

This is off top, so if you want to discuss it some more let's take it to PMs.

Thanks for the responses! I've deleted all mods and CC from my game previously and it did not fix the issue. I'll try what else has been suggested here. Thank you!

Edit: unfortunately nothing has worked. I'm not sure what else to try except uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that fixes the issue.

The origins.ini (I think the repacks from FitGirl use that thing) is ignored by the newer CODEX releases. Yes, you can remove it, but if you don't it's not making a difference either. It's the same with the Rld-files from before. You can keep them, or "clean up old files". In the end, doesn't matter.

If you still experience the issue with the black plumbob, try downloading a fresh version of the latest "Game"-folder (1.46), here:
https://www.games4theworld.club/t32948-latest-available-the-sims-4-language-string-files-for-users-of-origin-zlorigin-version-1-46-18-1020

Maybe it helps.

Looking at your validator report, you can still try re-downloading a fresh Game-folder (and delete your existing one).

Piece of cake.

Reinstalling won't make any difference. Rename or just move "Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4" to desktop and start the game - it will recreate that folder. Should be fine by now. Close the game, copy saves from the folder I told you to move/rename to the newly created one and try again. If it's still broken, then your saves are corrupted.
