Can't remove the game? [SOLVED] Empty Can't remove the game? [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Tue 25 Sep 2018, 09:07

I have a problem removing the game. I installed it, but I completly forgot that I had a newer version (the original demo) so I thought, well let's remove the game by using the install.msi...
so that's what I did, now I still have no more room on my HDD... where did it go? where are the files that get unpacked?
I can't find them Sad The downloadfile is on my ext. HDD, I installed in C:programfiles, just standard

please can someone tell me how to solve this

Welcome to the Forum first of all,

In general (regardless of where you got your games from), you can simply "uninstall" the game by deleting its installation folder from C:\Program files (x86). I don't know where your "unpacked items" are; unless you defined a custom extraction location they are where you dragged & dropped them out.

Another trick to free up space on your HDD is to empty the following folder from time to time:
C:\Users\(your Windows account name!!)\AppData\Local\Temp.

Delete all files there, except the folder "Temp" itself. You need to make hidden folders visible though in order to access that location. In the Windows Explorer in any folder location, look at the top left where it says File - Home - Share - View. Click on "View" and then tick the box "Hidden items".

I will try. I can't find the location anymore, it's removed after I uninstalled the game. Too bad I still have no more room on my HDD left, so that would be 10GB somewhere floating around. I'll try the temp folder. Maybe it was stored there in order to install the game.
I'll let you know

Sorry for the late reply,

What "packages" exactly? If you want to uninstall the actual game, remove the folder "The Sims 4", under C:\Program files (x86)\(Electronic Arts). If you meant the folders under Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4, it depends.

The latter location contains savefiles as well, and most people prefer keeping that in...for the event they re-install the game later on. You can delete it, but if you have savefiles of something that you'd like to continue playing with, then just keep that folder in. It's not that big anyway, unless you use lots of mods/custom content.
