The Sims 1 Complete Collection CTD during first loading screen

So, I just downloaded and installed the Sims 1 Complete Collection. The install went fine, no hiccups or problems of any sort. I can't, however, get into the game. Whenever I open it, it just exits to the desktop during the first loading screen. I get no error message or anything. I have followed a tutorial by SimsVIP describing how to get the game to work, but it didn't help. I've tried Windows 7 compatibility settings (as I know from experience it will run on Win7 - my previous machine ran Win7, this one runs Win10), but still, the problem hasn't gone away. If anyone could help, I would really appreciate it.
