Unable to install Expansion Pack for The Sims 3

Sorry I am new here and I had an The Sims 3-RIP version [not official] how do I install the expansion pack? I followed the instruction of installing the sims 3-master suite by pressing the set up but it give me a msg of "This product required an installed version of The Sims 3.Please install the sims 3 before installing this product" PLEASE HELP BY GIVING ME FULL INSTRUCTION! THANKS

.....hmm....this is complicated...

well...just download the base game and the expansion pack here. and install them one by one, mount the image, open the autorun, install it with the key provided..and when it says to update, click yes. and u should be fine all the way to showtime then for crack, just use the ultimate fix

I have installed the base game but when i go to install the expansion pack it says the sims 3 needs an update before you can install the expansion pack and when i press yes to update it says it can't do it and stops the setup of the expansion pack what is wrong?
