The Sims 3 freezes and doesn't respond - tried everything!
oI officially hate EA and will never purchase a thing from them after this..but anyhow here's my problem:
I have the sims 3 base game, the sims generations exp pack and showtime, all retail copies (first had torrent versions but due to freezing bought the game and thought it would change - it didn't!).
I have tried everything on the forum regarding this incl this: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t857-the-sims-3-crashes-freezes-to-desktop-fix-updated-on-10-01-2012 - I've uninstalled and reinstalled, changed DEP according to instructions, moved user files, lowered graphic settings, tried playing in window mode - nothing worked. I contacted EA and they said I should try playing after ending all processes on the computer. Didn't work - the game still crashes.
I have updated drivers and checked so that my computer meets the game requirements and it still doesn't work.
What should I do? I am getting sooo frustrated especially because I've spent all this money on something that doesn't even work properly.
I have the Sims version 1.34
My computer:
Windows 7 home premium 64 with sp1
Intel Core i7 1.80 ghz processor
ram: 4gb
graphic: Intel HD 3000 graphics
Does anybody have a clue to what it could be?
EDIT: I contacted EA again and got this from them:
In Windows *****/Vista go to Start menu.
Go to Accessories. Locate the command prompt shortcut and hover mouse
over it. Right Click on the shortcut then select Run as Administrator.
* In the command prompt type this exactly: bcdedit /set increaseuserva *****. Then hit enter.
*
Make sure you get a message back confirming the change was made. To
verify the entry is there you can type just bcdedit, hit enter, and you
should see the entry now listed.
* Then close the command prompt. You just told Vista to increase user virtual address (userva) space to *****MB.
* Changes take effect on reboot but don*****;t reboot yet.
SUMMARY
We
extended the user virtual address space in XP, Vista and ***** to
*****MB, so now applications can utilize up to that much if they are set
to be Large Address Aware. While some ***** bit games/applications are
set, Empire is not.
*****) Now reboot the PC because Windows needs to set the userva at ***** which only happens after startup.
If
you skip any step it will not work. When you have rebooted you should
be good to go. Run the game as normal with the original game shortcut.
And surprise, surprise that didn't work either Game still crashes.

Hello,
Oh, don't worry about the EA support, they usually don't say anything useful.
Do you have any Mods or Custom Content? If not, please contact me via the Forum's chatbox when you see me online on the Forum. I'll see what I can do for you.
