Sims 3:reinstalled everything. Game crashes when I first enter my lot. [SOLVED]
Here's a copy/paste from Speccy about my system.
I quit playing Sims 3 a while back. I had gotten all the torrents up to 'Outdoor Living'. Back then everything worked fine and I was playing it for a good long time, even adding mods, before I lost interest. Well, day before yesterday I decided to play again and got the newer expansions/stuff pack. I emptied my Mods directory and installed them all, as explained in Your Post.
At this point I added updated versions of my favorite mods, namely Twallans Story Progression mod, then started my game. Everything seemed to work just fine. Two pretty girls came over to my new house to check out my hairy chest... Welcoming the new household to town. Anyway, this weird looking alien comes walking up. I was kind of freaking out on it. All spindley legged and all... I pointed at it and it said Stray Dog. lol So I saved and googled monster dog & pets in sims 3. I found my answer to that. Since I wasn't really that interested in Pets I decided to remove The Sims 3 Pets (Fixed) from my system. After I did I ran CCleaners regstry cleaner and ran the game. Everything seemed to be working just fine. But then I started getting occasional freezes and stuttering. By stuttering I mean it'd pause, then move forward in time a bit then pause again.
I got a few error trap messages from twallans mod. Had to do with missing pets. But nothing was crashing or breaking really. But I decided I just could not live with the freezing and stuttering. So I removed my Mods, restarted the game and it was still doing it. So I thought to make a new toon(Sim) in one of the new towns with no mods. Still got the Freezing and Stuttering. I searched around and found the DEP trick and tried that. I didn't notice and improvement. I also tried turning my vsync off in my nvidia control panel, still no joy. Last thing I found was using task manager to increase ts3w.exe's Priority to high and changing it's affinity to use only 4 of my 6 cores. That did seem to help a little. But not enough. By this point I got tired of waiting to reload my game for each new thing I tried, so I decided screw it, I'll uninstall everything and start fresh.
I followed games4theworld's instructions to the letter, except for one thing. Since I use Windows 7 I learned a long time ago that sometimes there's issues with running games/apps in \program files or \program files (x86) so over a year ago I began installing all new games to C:\Games\\. Here's an example. All my games are installed like this:
C:\Games\EA\The Sims 3 Ambitions\
C:\Games\EA\The Sims 3 Fast Lane Stuff\
C:\Games\EA\The Sims 3 Generations\
etc...
C:\Games\EA\The Sims 3 World Adventures\
C:\Games\The Sims 3\
I have all the expansions and stuff packs. The only 1 I didn't install when I reinstalled everything is Pets. However, now I start a new game and create me a new Sim and enter the new neighborhood. Then I choose the house I want to buy and I get in the game just fine. But after like 5-15 seconds it crashes to my desktop. I've been over every method I could find here at https://games4theworld.forumotion.com and I cannot figure out whats wrong. I tried doing the new Locations to my DEP, still no joy. *sighs*
I'm at my wits end. Maybe I just need a few days away from the problem so I can come at it with a clear head... But I want to play!!!! lmao... Can anyone think of something for me to try?

Hello,
First of all, welcome to the Games4theworld Forum!
It doesn't really matter to which folder you install the game to, actually.
Are you running the game with any Mods or Custom Content at the moment?

Re: Sims 3:reinstalled everything. Game crashes when I first enter my lot. [SOLVED]
No mods or custom content. In one of the links for troubleshooting, here at games4theworld, it says to go to documents\electronic arts\ and delete 'The Sims 3' folder. I did that too and no change. I can start the game and create a new Sim. But once I select a home and load my new lot it crashes shortly after that. I can sometimes even walk into the house before the crash happens.

Tried all that. None worked. But then I decided to try turning DEP back to default windows 7 setting. That worked. Now everything works fine. I even deleted the newly created The Sims 3 folder in documents/electronic arts folder and put my old one back in and everything is still working.
You might want to add to your guide that if doing a complete uninstall -> reinstall that they might want to reset DEP to windows default settings. Then if there's issues they can try redoing the DEP setting as the guide states.
But for me the problem was simply re-allowing windows to manage my DEP.
Thank you for trying to help me Mate. I really appreciate it.
