Make my Sims game load faster..

Re: Make my Sims game load faster..
Game Booster could help a bit if your game lags but i doubt there's a way to load it up faster. There's quite a few things that need to start up when you launch Sims 3, we all have to wait my dear.

But still, do you have any mods or custom content? Especially in package format? This can cause your game to run slower. And as markk suggested, you could download and install gamebooster, and that could help make your game faster.
Another question, how many stuff packs or expansions do you have, and which ones?

Re: Make my Sims game load faster..
Hello!
I have the same problem, although I am using Game Booster 3 and System Requirements Lab Analysis is saying that my computer should run the game perfectly. *Error - it says that new members aren`t allowed to post external links for 7 days, so I cannot show you my screenshot. If you want, I can send you an PM, but the green line goes till the very end*
It probably is because I have installed all of the expansion and stuff packs, and I have almost all the store items, which is about 4 GB in .package files and more than 8 GB in .sims3pack files. I read somewhere on the Internet that after installing the .sims3pack files, you may delete them from your Downloads folder, so I did so and the game ran significantly faster (I had the Sims 3 a year or so ago, but the game ran so slow, I had to uninstall it). I have one question - when I downloaded the store items, very many of them were both in .package and .sims3pack file format, but with different file names, so is there a way how I can know when they are duplicating?
I do have a tip though - when opening Game Booster, I always switch to GameBox. It closes the explorer.exe in Windows Task Manager and it really made my game run faster.
Summary - game runs ok (except the Create-A-Sim, the clothes and hairstyles (sometimes) load really slow), also towns load slowly.
P.S. - if you can`t understand something, please ask me to explain what I meant!

Hello,
If you're using a large number of package files, consider combining them like this. It's not the overall size of your packages, but the amount of packages that can cause problems.

Thank you, I will give it a try.
P.S. - I just took a look in the Packages folder, there are only 45 files in there. Is it a large amount of files?

Re: Make my Sims game load faster..
Hello,
I don't know what qualifies as a "large amount" but that would probably also depend on your pc. I like to keep the amount of packages under 10, but my pc is seriously low end.
It's worth a try.
Don't combine mods though, since they're updated with each new pack. Just the cc's.

Re: Make my Sims game load faster..
All it really did was crash both times I tried combining the CC and the third time it showed this:
My PC is somewhere between high and middle end, so I am pretty sure those 4 GB won`t slow it down that much.
Another question - is there a way how to know if the CC is the same in both .package and .sims3Pack files I have downloaded? When I installed Sims 3, I downloaded some torrents with .sims3Pack files, some with .package files and I am sure that some of them duplicate. Maybe there is a way how to know that?

Re: Make my Sims game load faster..
Hello,
You'll see it in game, if there are 2 items that are the same and one has the "store" icon and the other the "custom content" icon.
You could sift through them with Merlin, but that would be very time consuming.
It looks like you could be loading one or more bad packages into s3pe. Try checking them with Delphy's Dashboard.

Re: Make my Sims game load faster..
Hello.
So I ran the Delphy`s Dashboard tool, and it showed me 21 "Conflict" files (only "Conflict" files, no "Corrupt" etc.). I have got two questions:
1. When it showed that, for example, "Sims 3 Store Update 33 - Febuary 2012" is conflicting with "Sims 3 Store Update February 2012", I assume that I can delete one of those files, but sometimes it shows that the "Type" (see image below) is an "Object", so what should I do in that case? But I am not sure if they both contain the same files, I don`t want to have missing things.
2. I tried clicking on "Fix all problems" but it said it won`t fix "Conflicted" files. So that means that I have to manually delete them?
(open the image in a new tab to see it full-size)
//EDIT
I`m very sorry, but I have even more problems right now >.<
My game started crashing randomly (after an hour, sometimes after two hours, sometimes when I tried switching worlds, sometimes when I was playing just for 15 minutes). I saw your a similar post that suggested me to see this topic: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t857-the-sims-3-crashes-freezes-to-desktop-fix-updated-on-10-01-2012
I have only one mod - nointro, that I just updated, and a few Sims 3 Store updates (see my other post above) ^_^
Unfortunately I have Windows XP, but the instruction how to add .exe files for DEP was only for Windows 7 and Vista. I tried anyways, but failed miserably finding the "Advanced system settings". Maybe I am just blind, but could you please tell me where to find it on XP?
P.S. - should I make my own topic or is it ok to write all my problems in BrittanyG95`s topic?

Re: Make my Sims game load faster..
Hello,
It's recommended to fix it yes, even if you have to do it manually. It can cause problems to have conflicting files and can also be the cause of the problem with sp3e, and crashing.
I've done it once on XP, but I'm not sure how lol. I'm looking into it.
Here you go:
Go to control panel (classic view).
Go to System.
Go to the Advanced tab.
Look for the "performance" settings (on top).
The 3rd tab is the DEP.
Edit:
Try this, and if it doesn't work, let's continue in a new topic. That'll make it easier to keep track.

Re: Make my Sims game load faster..
So I did everything as you said, but I noticed that you might have not updated the topic for some time because I couldn`t find what to do with the Showtime, Katy Perry`s Sweet Treats and Master Suite Stuff`s .exe files (hope I didn`t miss anything). Or is it unneccesary to add them?
To fix the "Conflict" problem I just delete one of the files that conflict with each other? And in case the "Type" is "Object", I just delete it and re-download from your MediaFire`s account this time?

Re: Make my Sims game load faster..
Actually, if they're titled the same, then it's a duplicate. They're all originally titled as objects, the other ones are just telling you that they're conflicted, instead of telling you they're an object type.

Re: Make my Sims game load faster..
No, I mean, what to do with the files like Tree_of_Prosperity.package and the three files that are named "Object" in the "Type" section?
And I can simply delete, for example, StoreBabySwing.package so that it won`t conflict with "The_Si..."?
//EDIT:
Ok, I got it finally ^_^
So, just to make sure I won`t mess up the game, please answer my last two questions before I start deleting

Re: Make my Sims game load faster..
Hello,
If you widen the "Type" tab, you can get a more accurate file name which'll make it easier for you to find and take care of duplicates.

Re: Make my Sims game load faster..
Well, I made it much, much wider, but for some .package files it still said simply "Object"
P.S. - I still dunno what to do about this: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t857-the-sims-3-crashes-freezes-to-desktop-fix-updated-on-10-01-2012 some expansion/stuff packs are missing from the list in the instructions for DEP. Is it unnecessary if they aren`t mentioned there?

Once again, I apology for my stupidness >_>

Re: Make my Sims game load faster..
Hello,
A few things are obvious. The KT_storefix and Joey_StoreCC_fix packages fix the same thing. If you take your pick, and remove one, that particular conflict should be gone.
It looks like the babyswing conflicts with The_Sims_3_store may packages, so perhaps the swing is part of the "may" set. Remove it from the folder for the time being, just put it in a temporary folder for now (as long as it's not in the mods folder).
You have a lot of packages that conflict with each other that don't seem to be duplicates, but since you downloaded them here, there and everywhere, there's a chance that some of these packages contain duplicate items.
Perhaps the best thing you can do is find another source and redownload everything. It might take less time than sifting through all of these, and you may not be able to solve all conflicts without loosing some of your content. I know that G4TW has a torrent with store updates 1-26, which is up to July 2011.
We also have everything here, but as sims3packs. Mostly sets so you'd only need 1 sims3pack for each month.

Re: Make my Sims game load faster..
Still, could you please be so kind and answer me about the DEP thing?
//EDIT:
Oh my, why is it so hard for me to figure everything out by myself? I noticed that, for example, in the "Store Update 28 - September 2011" there is a file called "Sept2011.Sims3Pack". Does this single file contain ALL of the CC published in September 2011, or is it... Just a random file?
Downloaded your torrent containing updates 1-26 and the rest of files in .Sims3Pack format, so I will have no problems with the .package files, since the only ones will be some fixes you have released and the nointro that came with the game (if I am correct). Still, could you please be so kind and answer me about the DEP thing?
//EDIT Nr. 2:
Just finished making my Sims, when for some reason I thought it would be a great idea to edit my city to see which flat is the best for my sim. Unfortunately, just after a minute in "Edit Town", the game crashed :?
