My Sims are disappearing

I recently downloaded game and all expansions from games4theworld, tryied to install untl i got it right - was having troubles with WA - and when i finally started playing the game.. it was really slow. I thought it was a memory issue so I took out medieval and showtime. It got a little better. So I started playing with a huge smile on my face. A few hours later i sent a sim to travel to egipt, and when the vacations was over he was sent home, and the game returnd to my "house" but the sim wasnt there. I had 2 at the same house and the one that was sent to egipt didnt return. (!) I even tryied to wait to see if it was some mechanics of the game but no.. even his lttle portrait at the bottom left was gone. So i had to start all over again. I did everything again and when restarted playing I was carefull not to send anyone to vacations -lol - but today when i tryied to enter my new saved game both of my sims are gone! And the game bar with all functions and menus were gone also. ALmost as if i pressed some button to vansh with the UI to take a print screen. Everything else is there, house, other npc sims, animals... but not my sims.. no buttons..nada. I dont even know how to enter the main menu without the ui to click on options.
Can anyone help me?

Hello,
The issue with WA as you describe it is rather well-known and you can prevent that from happening with a mod named Traveler.
I'm not sure it'll do you much good with the save game issue though, that sounds pretty messed up. Are you using any mods/cc?
The Sims medieval is a stand-alone game by the way, it's not an expansionpack of The Sims 3, so you can reinstall it without any consequences to your game performance.

Well, the only mods I have are form "The Sims 3 Store updates - June 2011", but I didn't had them when my first sim disappeared. And when it happened again, they were saved inside the house and not on any other traveling maps
I know this was really strange so I uninstalled everything and will reinstall again today. Maybe I messed up something on instllation? Either way I will post here if the same problem happens again later.
I just have a question. When I open the launcher it appears a window saying that a new upsate has come and if I'd like to download. Should I do it? I always press the "later" but maybe thats why i've beeng having troubles? And my other queston is about Origin. I dont know if Ishould have it or not in one guide it says its ok to install, but on other says dont, do the manual patch.

Hello,
The problem with WA is a bug, it's nothing you've done wrong.
What kind of update are you asked about, a game update or a store update? It doesn't really matter either way, though I think it's the store update.
You don't need Origin, but as far as I know, it doesn't hurt to install it.
