Question about .sim3packs?
I don't see any answer to this anyplace so I hope I am not repeating a question, I'm new to Sims 3 so theres alot to learn. I have installed everything up to Diesel Stuff and Store items plus some CC from another source. I read how to install .sim3packs and it worked fine but now I am wondering? Are si3packs like an installer? I have limited space ad the game already takes up over 50Gigs. Once they are installed do I erase the .sim3pack files out of my documents? I have copies saved to backup drive. Just wondering how they work. Thanks for anyone who can help with this question.

Hello,
No, if you remove the files from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 the files will be removed from your launcher and game, I'm afraid.

Re: Question about .sim3packs?
Hello,
Actually, you can remove the sims3packs from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads.
But I don't recommend deleting them. Store them on an external HD, USB drive, anywhere. Because there are many reasons to have to reinstall them and it would be a pain to redownload them all.

Hello,
But if you remove them from that folder, they'll also be removed from your launcher. Doesn't that mean that they'll also disappear from you game?

Re: Question about .sim3packs?
Hello,
No, it's just a "staging" area. It's like keeping a RAR because you worry the game won't stay installed if you remove it. The actual content of the sims3packs is in DCBackup.
I never keep sims3packs in my Downloads folder because it makes installing new items a pain. Scrolling inside the launcher is a challenge on my pc lol. If there are only items in there that haven't been installed yet, I can just "select all" and install those few sims3packs. Before, I would also "select all" and it would go through all of the sims3packs in the launcher telling me about 80% were already installed and it only took like, an hour and a half or so

Hello,
True, but that's the "official" way. If you wanted to uninstall them all at once, it's probably easiest to simply remove the "The Sims 3" folder, have the launcher generate a new one, and move your saves.
