The sims 3 launcher freezes

Everytime I open the sims 3 launcher it freezes as soon as I click the update button. I have the sims 3 base game,pets,showtime and diesel stuff. It does not stop me playing the game as I access the game through the folder. Its just annoying as I am unable to update.

DO NOT update to version 1.38 yet!

As for the launcher freezing, try installing Origin from: http://www.origin.com/download
No need to have it running or to be logged into it for it to work.
