Installing Expansions from a file dump Empty Installing Expansions from a file dump

Okay, I'm not sure if what I'm attempting to do is possible, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm hoping someone here can help me.

My friend and I both went out a brought a copy of the Sims 3 base game. She then downloaded (some of) the expansions, installed them, and it works great on her computer.

To save my internet bandwidth, I asked her if she could give me a copy of the expansions.

Not being the most tech-savy, my friend has provided me not with the rar or iso files, but with a copy of everything (minus the base game, cause I already have it) from her .../program files/electronic arts directory. That is, I have folders here called 'The Sims 3 Pets', among others.

I tried just dropping these folders into my EA folder, like a setup would, but that didn't work.

So, the question is, is there a way to get this to work?

(Btw, my friend has gone on hols for a while, so I can't just get her to give me the iso/rar's)

Yeah, only way to fix would be add to the registry or wait to get a copy of the downloaded files, or even the extracted files.

Since there will probably be quite a few spots in the registry you need to add stuff to, and that will require all entries ALL EXACT to work, but first would require someone to COMPLETELY make a list of the registry with all the expansions you have/want. Which even has the chance of missing one or two, and have the same OS, and installed it the same way as you, or know where to change it to match yours.

So I would vote against trying to do a massive registry fix for Sims 3, since it's a far shot from working.

Why you didn't try to DL it?
You paid your DL x $ per Gb?

The simpliest way is to wait for your friend and make an iso with the decompressed archive or to copy the RAR in your PC, decompress it and to run setup from the folder created.

PS: sorry for my english, i hope, you understand me.

Hello,

What you've attempted is unlikely to work, you need the setup files. Preferably the RAR so you can extract them yourself.
Ask your friend when (s)he's available again, or download them.
