AMD vs intel
I am partially in the planning on making my own PC from the ground up. I ran into a slight snag, Intel motherboards are expensive, but i have a good past with them. Curve-ball, I found an AMD motherboard, same specs much less money. Now this is a great thing for someone like me but throws up a reg flag as well. "You get what you pay for". One of my friends from work said he has one and it works just as well as intel and he has no problems with it, however, i would love some input. Please and thank you!

Re: AMD vs intel
Hello,
I'm using AMD myself. Because the performance is the same or better but it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. And there's nothing wrong with the quality.
I've been using my pc in its current configuration since 2007. I replaced my graphics card in '07 but the rest remained "as is". I'm not even sure how long I've been using my motherboard or my AMD Sempron 3400+ 2.00 Ghz, I *think* I got them in '05. They were pretty awesome back then lol.
I do want to build a new pc in the near future (AMD as well) but only because I can't run any new games at all, but my pc is like this:
So I only need to replace it because it simply wont run Skyrim.

Re: AMD vs intel
Hi there,
ASUS motherboard here. Don't worry, both Intel and AMD are high-quality manufacturers. The difference is that Intel pays high costs for advertisement and they have to get that money back somehow. The problem is that when you get a AMD motherboard, you most likely have to get an AMD CPU too. (Intel and AMD use a different type of connector)
So yes, AMD is good too, but if you're going for the top line, you should go for the Intel i-products.

Asus and Gigabyte are good manufacturers of motherboards, I myself have an Asus P8P67 Pro one, and its a beauty! Black, Blue and silver! But AMD are pretty good, I was playing Skyrim on High on an old AMD Sempron 1.8GHz and didnt give me any trouble! But I've gone to intel for the processing power

It's too subjective to compare the bran. You should list your budget for your processor and motherboard. So we can decide from there... what is the best bang for buck...
You got me?

Haha it was a Compaq Presario SR5403 1.8 dual core sempron, 5GB DDR2 RAM, and i upgraded the graphics card to a gt520, all i could afford at the time. the pc werent much cop and was pretty slow at loading this like photoshop, but it ran skyrim at 28fps, which is just about playable, but when you went north into the snow, it did lag a little bit, so it was a hope of not bumping into a wood elf and it shooting arrows at you lol
