Just asking, is anyone experiencing serious crashes with Nraas mods and births?
Hello,
I just spend the past few days wrestling my game. I'm testing the world I have been building for the past 6 months and it would crash every time, to the point that I had to shut down the pc because it wouldn't even return to windows.
The first time it happened I restarted my game, saved a little more often and it occurred to me that it was crashing at about the same time in game. So I saved it about 1 sim-hour before I expected the crash to happen and sure enough, it crashed at the exact same in-game time it had before. So I restarted the game and switched households. I used Story Progressions' "make active" to do this. By chance, I happened to go to a household that was about to have a baby and the game didn't crash, baby was born 20 minutes after the previous in-game time at which it would happen.
Back to my original household, and I had no problems, but expecting problems I saved twice each sim-day and eventually the same crash occurred. Now, I used Master Controller to find out if any sims had the "baby is coming" moodlet before crash-time and sure enough, someone did. So I switched to their household and... it didn't crash. So I saved and went back to my original household. Again saving my game twice each sim-day and after a few sim-days, another crash. And another baby, as it turned out, in one of my inactive households. So I saved it to a secondary save file and started testing my primary save.
Without the mods folder: no crash. Ok, so it's a mod. Reluctant to believe it would be an Nraas mod, I tested my other mods/cc first and the game didn't crash. I started adding Nraas mods one by one and as it turns out, the crash occurs when I have one of the following mods in my mods\packages folder: Traveler, Errortrap or Master Controller.
I contacted the chatterbox at www.nraas.wikispaces.com to find out if anyone else was having this problem and Twallan appears to be just as stumped as I am.
Since Create-a-Household wouldn't go past "processing", I used those default EA families from the sim bin to test my world, along with 6 WA families that I saved to the bin. Wondering if it had anything to do with those WA sims, I started a fresh Sunset Valley with my original mod setup, which crashed as Justine Keaton was about to give birth
Now the question is, is anyone else experiencing this problem? Would anyone be willing to find out if the same thing happens in their game? I'd like to get to the bottom of this.
We may not be able to recreate the exact same issue since most people will have a better system and a different game setup than I do, but here's what I have:
I'm running XP (32-bit) on a single core 2GHz AMD Sempron with 3 GB RAM and an Nvidia 7600GS 512 MB. I have WA, AMB, GEN, Pets, Seasons and UL (at patch level 1.50 and with the latest crack, obviously )
In my mods folder, I have a small number of mods and CC:
-From Nraas: Story Progression with extra modules (career, extra, money, population, relationship, skill), Master controller with extra modules (cheats, progression and integration), Overwatch, Errortrap and Traveler.
-nobuildsparkles&nointro (who doesn't)
-buzz clean house for everyone
-nona breastfeed mod
-the store fixes
-country living (farm life set as a package file)
-a packed set of cocomama's TSM for TS3 objects
I have determined that the crash doesn't occur if I remove MC and it's extra modules, errortrap and traveler. There doesn't seem to be a conflict between these 3 and the non-Nraas mods, since I ran a test with just Nraas mods as well with the same results. It's weird that 3 mods that aren't related in how they work would cause the exact same crash.
I'm reluctant to work with Nraas due to having a pirated game, which means full disclosure about my game setup and mods setup is out of the question.
The question is, has anyone here experienced frequent crashes with one of these mods and, if you do, can you find out if it is at all possible that the crash happens as another sim is going to have a baby within 30 (sim) minutes of the crash.

Nah, I'm experiencing serious crashes without them. I have most mods you have, minus the maternity related ones.

I'm using all three of those NRaas mods, with no problems (along with 30 others lol).
Wondering if it's from one of the newer updates that he's put out, as mine are still from the first batch of properly working ones after university.
Errortrap : 2/20/2013 (Wow that's not been updated for a while)
Master Controller : 3/17/2013 (I have cheats and integration to go along with this, at 3/14 and 2/20, respectively)
Traveler : 3/18/2013
I wouldn't mind grabbing the other mods you have and testing the game out on my computer, if you'd like a second person to try it out.

Hmm maybe I should try older versions of the mods for that patch level.
I'm also going to try a clean folder with just those mods.
@TUN3R this is the first time I'm having these issues.
Turns out it may have been bad caches lol. I had cleared them before, but it wasn't until I had a new TS3 folder generated to test just those mods that it worked. Now, I'm reinstalling sims3packs for the rest of the day 10 at a time. Oh joy.
