The Sims 3 MAC installation problems.

i've been trying to install these. i was only successful with the base and even then, the fix wasn't working for me. then you came out with detailed instructions for mac to install LN. so, i installed that. and now, even after that, the fix doesn't work for me.

whether i update the game or not, it still ends up being unable to start. when i didnt update the game and applied the fix, the error was the same as the ones above but if i ignore it, it'll still end up at unable to start game.

what am i doing wrong?

i downloaded your sims 3 late night and followed the installation guide provided by you guys (thanks! i successfully created a .dmg to install).

But when I click on the installer, nothing happens. It doesn't load at all, so I can't even install it!

What should I do?

Please note that our MAC program is still in béta, and we're still trying to fix the "bugs". Could you please provide as much information about what you did and what the problem is? Thank you for your help and patient.

i followed everything until no.6 on the instructions. When i click on "The Sims 3 Late Night Installer", nothing happens, so I can't go on with the installation. It appears that the sims3 icon opens for a split second then vanishes.

I followed the MAC instructions. I just downloaded the base game and Late Night. And following everything step by step, i still ended up with the "unable to start game" death sentence. Unless it was a matter of how I uninstalled my previous nonworking version, perhaps?

I am having the same problem!

I'm running the same operating system and have installed The Sims 3 and The Sims Ambitions (from other sites). Everything runs just fine. I followed the instructions perfectly (twice through) for this version of Late Night and nothing happens when I try to open the installer.

The Sims™ 3 Late Night Installer opens for a split second and closes. I think it is a mac issue.

And it makes no difference whether sims 3 is installed or not. It is the installer's problem.

Hmm okay, I'm going to re-download the sims late night and do this again, then I will get back to you.

You are extracting the file right? Not trying trying to create the disk image from the .rar file ?

in my case, i extracted the .rar, the installer didn't work. then i made a .dmg with the extracted content. it didn't work either.

btw, I tried to run the .exe installer from the extracted content on windows (with parallels) and it can run (i don't have sims 3 on windows so i didn't continue to see if it would work, but i guess it could). so i guess the extract contents aren't corrupted

Okay, slightly confused about the rules here, but apparently we are discussing about the Mac issue in this topic. To me, at least, the error message is the following:

Unable to start game

Service initialization failed (0x039e8474)

Appears after clicking the play symbol. I'm attempting to play with the base game, Ambitions and Late Night.

I've also tried opening the file both with and without a disk image, and I've tried re-downloading the whole thing, to no avail.

And I know that it has nothing to do with the games, I was just throwing that in there so that whoever helping could see that I had no problem with other games. It's usually helpful to have the most information possible.

The download will be done in a few mins so I'll extract it then create it into a disk image and let you know if I have any luck, I mean I know for a fact it does work as I had done it before successfully as I had the installation and game running smoothly. However, there must be a problem for so many people to be reporting one, so basically I'm going to re-do the process so bare with me guys.

Okay, I've just done the whole process again and it works. I've done a screen recording of the whole process.

So, did you do exactly as described in your Guide? If you know how to fix it, please tell me what to change, so I can update the Guide / Fix.

I did exactly the same as the guide mate, nothing different and it worked fine, all I can suggest is for them to try the older version of stuffit expander as posted above.

I have the same problem, and I'm using UnrarX to extract the files, is that the problem or what?

okay I installed it and applied the crack for late night but now it says that I need a disc to play. I don't know if the problem might lie in the fact that I didn't download the base game from you guys but got it from a friend. What is the problem now?

Naa it wouldn't be that, it's gotta be the crack. So the installation only works with that version of stuffit expander then?
