How would i go about that if i want to add more towns and expansion packs. would i have to re-install everything?

No, dont uninstall. Install all you want expansions and do the 2-5 steps in: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly

Don't skip any steps. Very Happy
