Best PS3 Game ? Empty Best PS3 Game ?

Post by Michael Myers Thu 18 Mar 2010, 15:04

In my opinion; God of War 3 is the best game ever made!
Everyone with a PS3 should buy it. And when someone doesn't have a PS3, (s)he should BUY a PS3, and then buy the game as well (:

I would have to say Infamous was my favorite game for PS3. The story, the graphics, and the merciless slaughter of innocent civilians when you max out your "darkside" powers is epic.

Metal Gear Solid 4. I never played it, but I watched someone else play it through and it had an amazing story line, along with good music.

I heard XIII wasn't that good. It was too easy to beat the game. My friend beat the game in a few hours and didn't really like him. He's pretty much the expert when it comes to RPG games like that.

Whatever's on PS3 & Xbox 360, X360's version is better.

I've not played many PS3 games, and there are pretty much none that are PS3-exclusive (that are good). I like Tales of Vesperia (I think this is on PS3 as well?), Final Fantasy XIII, Assassin's Creed... Eternal Sonata if it hadn't gotten emo at the end lol

I really tried to get into PS3, but I just couldn't. All of their features sucked. I couldn't even play music while I played a game. I didn't like their dashboard setup or their online services. It may be free to play online, but at least xbox's servers don't lag that bad. Every game I played online sucked. All I really did with my PS3 was play music and watch movies. Xbox is way better in every way. I would rather pay to play honestly. The only bad thing about Xbox is their hardware and accessories (including console) and help services. I had a broken Xbox, so I waited a week or 2 for the box to come in, then I waited 2-3 weeks for repairs, got it back, plugged it in,...... still broken, waited 2 weeks for box, then waited 4 weeks for repairs. Bad experiences with everybody except for PC parts so far.

Oh. Did he finished the game? As the game goes on there are different paradigms that consists of: commando, sentinel, saboteur, medic, ravager and synergist to beat different kinds of enemies that one might encounter. It's not easy because as the game press on, the enemies have gotten stronger and hard to defeat.

Aside from FFXIII, I'm enjoying Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

This is what he wrote....

Final Fantasy XIII at first glance looked to be extremely promising,
being the next-generation's first Final Fantasy game. The graphics
looked visually stunning as did the look of combat in the trailers and
articles. However, the actual game was horrible:

* The storyline seemed to be pulled out of the ass of an 8 year old.
Running away from someone half the game with such a minor, anti-climatic
twist that it didn't even make me shrug in reaction. I haven't
experienced much of a piss-poor story since an old madman told me a tale
(a bum) outside of my workplace the other day. No creativity and
nothing really to be excited about.

* The worst feature of the game: Auto Attack. For the first hour of the
game, all I could do is either "Attack" or "auto attack" (automatically
chooses "Attack".. yep..). If I could do something else, it wasn't
worth using. Realizing very fast that I'm going to be choosing "auto
attack" the entire game, I was in denial and tried manually using
attacks. At the end of every battle, my score grade would be absolutely
horrible, forcing me to use Auto Attack every round. The Paradigm
system is the only thing that kept the battles interesting and that
wasn't even introduced until 2 hours into the game! So for 2 hours into
the game, you are just using auto attack for 1 ability that you have
with 1 character! So yes, the entire game... you are using nothing other
than "Auto Attack" as the game forces this upon you.

* The summons: Worst system ever. FF is known for having countless
summons that you can pick and choose. There's always a cool dramatic
entrance for the summons/cutscenes and a very satisfying "finishing
blow". Not in this one. Not only did they leave out most of the summons
everyone knows and loves, but everything about the system was horrible.
You could only control 1 summon per character and you only get a few
characters and can control only 1 character at a time. That said, it was
very repetitive. Boring. Not only that, but for every finishing blow,
the summons would pull some transformers bullshit and morph into a
vehicle. They'd spin around with sparks of flame or ice and it was
extremely unsatisfying and weak. You gained no bonuses from having
summons - you could only use them every once in a while but because the
game is too easy, you feel guilty even using them since it's not even
satisfying anyways.

* The pre-combat system: If you were to sneak behind an enemy, you would
get a pre-emptive strike with bonuses and benefits. Considering the
enemy is ALWAYS facing you, you only get about 3-5 preemptive strikes in
the entire game without items or glitching out the game with luck. This
was so poorly done that it's rediculous. Not only that, if they see
you, but they run at you and stop.. then you sneak behind them and hit
them first, it's still not a preemptive strike making this system broken
once again.

* Difficulty: The entire game was easier than anything I've ever played.
I even skipped countless enemies to up the difficulty! There was no
satisfaction in winning.

* The "level up" system: Broken. It was Restricted! Meaning, you
couldn't level up until you get to certain points of the story.
Everything is always maxed out -- and when it is maxed, you still save
points to spend for when you unlock the next "tier". When this happens,
your points are rolled over and everything is maxed out immediately
following the next tier unlock. You look forward to nothing when
leveling up and you are always maxed out. There is no desire to reach
further as it's pointless.

* The weapon "upgrade" system: You could level up your weapons and
eventually upgrade them to something slightly better when it's level 24
or so. It takes a LOT of money/items to get 1 item to 24 (took me half
the game to upgrade the FIRST weapon you get after putting 100% of my
money/items into my blade). In other words, every single weapon in the
game was pointless except for the item I started with at the beginning
of the game. If I am constantly upgrading my weapons at beginning of
game, it is making all new items that drop or are for sale obsolete, as
my stock weapon is better. This is very frustrating as it pushes you
towards upgrading the 1 weapon you have the entire game that makes it
better than any other item that drops. This is very boring.

* No sideplots, no deep thought processes, no world map with free travel
(well, later, sorta like ff10 - i don't count that), just a direct
storyline: Boring. Everything is directed for you. You know exactly
where to go at all times and there is only 1 way to go. The story
doesn't even keep it interesting and tells you everything you need to
know without any thoughts that keep you hooked by a chain of interest.
Nothing.

* NO SECRETS at all! You may find a treasure chest if you turn behind
you at the beginning of every "level", but it's not exciting at all. In
all the other ff games (aside from 12, which sucked horribly as well),
there are always secrets aglore. Sometimes major secrets! Secret
characters, summons, huge side plots. No hidden areas, no.. anything fun
or exciting. Aside from secrets, there are no puzzles at all, either.
No ever getting lost, deciding which way will be the right passage to
go, no mind boggling thoughts or any thought processes at all while
playing this game. You can beat a boss and go through an entire map with
your eyes closed. Literally! You move to the right like you are playing
Sonic the Hedgehog and just keep pressing the button for auto attack
for when you get in a battle. Done!

* For most of the game, you can't choose which character you control
even though you have 2-4 players: You HAVE to play as the one you are
controlling for the storyline. Not only that, there is -nothing- unique
per character. At all. They all have the same abilities, same everything
- just depends which "Paradigm" you are. You switch paradigms and auto
attack the entire game.

* Free-roam airship/world map: Wtf happened to these in FF games? This
was the best part! there were always secret areas you could go to or do
something else first if you want a break from storyline. countless side
quests from certain areas you could roam to.. They stopped doing this
after FF9. Every single one of it's predecessors have done this before
10 and it was very fun! Almost a trademark of FF, getting the beloved
airship to be "free" to go anywhere.

To sum it up, they made the game playable by a toddler, had nothing
unique about it except for the graphics, the combat system was broken,
the storyline smelled of asses, and I give this game a 2 out of 10.

1 point for the graphics and 1 point because the black guy with the afro
(with the baby "brocobo" living in his 'fro) was cool.

Now, I usually stick to Racing and Sports games, but I have played some others, so my vote goes to:

GTA IV

Like ShadeKenis, I have not been able to get into the PS3 really. I honestly don't play my consoles very often anymore though. I play PC games when I can, because they always outshine the console versions of the game. If I were to mention the PS3 to a friend who didn't have one and was looking to get a console system, I would say "Do not buy the PS3" simply because it lacks features to me, the only good thing about it is free online play, but whats the point of that if you don't get any of the great features the 360 has to offer. I would have to agree that infamous is a very good game though, but, I would rather refer Medal of Honor before any other game I currently own for the PS3 because it has a mixed feel of call of duty without the dumbed down idiocy that Blacks Ops introduced and the Battlefield series. Its not really fast gameplay and has decent size maps, but its also not a game where you will be sitting there for 10 minutes without being noticed like in Battlefield Bad Company 2.

PS3 exclusives? Only game that made me feel slightly sorry cause it's not on PC is Little Big Planet, everything else belongs to the bin.

This is an awesome debate. For me, it'd have to be Skyrim once you look past Bethesda's bug issues. Razz

I love LittleBigPlanet too, but I like games that I can get lost in, and for some reason, the LBP games weren't able to do that for me as well as Skyrim has. Smile
