Confused with sims 3 generations download/installation(mac) [SOLVED]

Hello! New here so just wanted to say hello, thank you for your hard work and to also apologize ahead of time. I've noticed many posts written about this so please excuse me for creating yet ANOTHER one

I have purchased all expansion packs and base games (besides fast lane and high end loft) for mac and decided to download the sims 3 generations torrent. When I extract the rar file I get .exe files and am pretty confused about how to install them. I'm pretty sure i'm not getting it, lol, seeing as how I followed directions with creating a .dmg file, etc. and it still not working... But I'm guessing this is a little hard for me since I am new to Mac (only had this for 5+ months) and only pc literate.

Any EXTRA help will be greatly appreciated for what I can do to install this expansion pack. Again, im truly sorry if I am annoying you all from posting the same question you all probably hear/receive all the time.

I'm sorry to inform you, but as of the release of Generations the MAC fix is currently out-dated. You can install every other game except for Generations. Once again, sorry to inform you that Generations is not available for the mac yet.

Has the fix been uploaded yet? I can't add any content to my game because its outdated. :'(

Hmmm. For some reason I'm still getting the same error message:

It looks like you have installed an unofficial game modification that does not match your current version of The Sims 3. We recommend that you either uninstall these game modifications or get updated versions of them – otherwise you may experience crashes or significant bugs.

I even took all of my games off so I just have the base game and Generations installed but it won't work. Maybe I need to completely reinstall everything, including my base game. My base game was updated before I downloaded Generations so maybe that has something to do with the error message.

Just press "Continue". I don't know about Mac's, but when you do this on the PC, the game will minimize to the taskbar and you can start it from there.

Oh right, I've done that before and the game works okay but you can't download things from the exchange because of that error. I'm trying to figure out a way to stop that error message from popping up. D;

Well, at least you can confirm the game / the Fix works?

Yup, it definitely works. When the prompt comes up it asks if you want to abort the game or not and if you just click "no" the game will start normally. When I played there were a couple of issues with certain pieces of clothing but other than that everything worked just fine.

That's great news! Thanks for confirming.
Besides that, I noticed the included "# Installation Guide.txt" is a little bit confusing due to the huge amount of text. For Windows I've used .pdf format, but I don't know what to use for Mac instead of the messy .txt. What do you recommend and is standard installed on all Mac systems? (Like Notepad in Windows, which read .txt formats)

Yeah, definitely! If you ever need to test other things for Mac, especially if they're related to The Sims I'm definitely willing to try things out.

I personally don't have a problem with the .txt files but if you want you could also make .pdf files for Mac and our default application Preview will open it just fine.
