Pets Crashes
I have read multiple threads in this forum but all of them have a fix that doesn't work for me.
I just installed Sims 3 Pets, downloaded from piratebay and am having issues about 15 minutes into game play.
It normal crashes when I try and do two things at once (eg. edge scrolling while trying to place an item)
I have followed the instruction provided here with both manual fixes and the ultimate fix. At first the game didn't run at all and the Ultimate fix fixed that, now it crashes.
I have un-installed and re-installed but still no luck. My graphics/ pc specs are fine. I have Sims 3 and Ambitions bought legally and Seasons from piratebay. The game was working fine until I installed Pets. It completely freezes my PC and I have to hold the power button to restart my PC.
Any help would appreciated!

Re: Pets Crashes
Thanks for your reply!
I hadn't tried the DEP method, I applied this to my game and it made no changes. I then did what you suggested and removed the folder from my documents, made no difference. It shouldn't be a problem with my PC as I don't have a lower spec PC. I play a lot of games so I don't think I have a graphics, RAM or Processor issue.
My game didn't completely freeze this time round, it just went to the desktop like the thread you suggested. Perhaps I will try assigning more RAM to the game, otherwise none of the suggested things have worked.
Update: I uninstalled Pets, and tried Town Life. Same thing happened so not sure if I am just doing something wrong but Seasons worked perfectly fine before hand?

It's strange that it does the same thing for town life. Does it work again if you remove town life, and just go back to what you had originally?

Re: Pets Crashes
It now does the same thing, goes to desktop and I can't re-open the window. I can still hear the music but it states it is not responding. Now I can't even get past loading the town video. I still haven't put back the documents so it was a clean start. Very confused now as Seasons was working fine
Do I need to patch Ambitions as well as Seasons/Base although is it a legal copy?

Re: Pets Crashes
With all patches that came out after generations, nothing but the base game gets patched. So that wouldn't be the cause. I'm kinda of at a loss right now, but I'll do some research when I get home tonight, and maybe somebody else will have an idea in the mean time.

Re: Pets Crashes
Thank you, I appreciate your time
Perhaps I may need to remove all pirated copies and start afresh, or shall I wait a bit longer before removing Seasons?

Hello,
It won't have anything to do with having pirated games, those are exactly the same as the ones you buy with one difference: they require a crack to bypass their starting from cd. It's a popular feature to blame throughout the community, whenever you're complaining about issues and people think you're using pirated, they immediately blame the crack at sites like modthesims and sims3.com.
But I can assure you it is not to blame. Plenty of people here never experience any problems with their game at all, myself included.
But you could try reinstalling everything, it certainly won't hurt. Start by doing steps 2-4 on this page though, it may be just what you need.

Re: Pets Crashes
I've done these steps several times, no luck.
I know full well it isn't the pirated copies because Seasons was working and now isn't so it must be something I done in my part
I will completely start afresh

Re: Pets Crashes
Uninstalled everything, restarted, reinstalled Sims 3 with my disk. Same problem.. I recently got a new monitor and graphics card which I had not played Sims on before I tried Pets. I am thinking there must be something more to this but I have no idea what.

If your graphics card is supported you could perhaps try deleting the cache files in Sims 3. At least this is what I have to do everytime I update my graphics driver (but of course, that doesn't have to mean anything...)

Is your graphicscard supported? Look here, and test specifically for The Sims 3 Pets.
It is supported, I even looked up in the Sims 3 forum to see if anyone else had problems and they have had no trouble with the same card.

I removed this folder as Lady EiDi suggested a few posts back, it didn't work. I am going to wait until I install my new motherboard and RAM which should be this weekend and I'll update my graphic card drivers, then I shall get back to you all with updates.
