Sims 3 lagging and being slow?
I installed The Sims 3 yesterday and the Ambitions Expansion Pack today. This is my first time playing it on this laptop so I have no saved families or anything, I loaded to make a new family and it's so slow. The mouse even moves so slow, it took about 5 minutes to change the gender of the Sim.
Any help please?

Re: Sims 3 lagging and being slow?
Yes. Download and use GameBooster from Iobit.
That should help. If not, come back and I'll give you more help!

Okay I was installing GameBooster and I got this popup;
It's not clickable and I can't click on the one behind it.

Re: Sims 3 lagging and being slow?
I just installed it and launched it. Sorry for being stupid but do I click on Add then choose The Sims 3 or The Ambitions Pack?

Re: Sims 3 lagging and being slow?
No stupid questions!
Yep, do this. Any is fine, you can choose one expansion, and then launch it. They are all grouped, so don't worry it will launch the game!

Re: Sims 3 lagging and being slow?
I launched it after boosting it and it's still the same. Like the cursor can't go a straight line without stopping a few times.

Re: Sims 3 lagging and being slow?
Ok, let us proceed:
Please go to My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3, and delete the following files:
-CASPartCache.package
-compositorCache.package
-scriptCache.package
-simCompositorCache.package
-socialCache.package
Then delete the folders DCCache, DCBackup, WorldCaches and Thumbnails.
Try with this.
Can you also give me a summary of your computer system specs?

Re: Sims 3 lagging and being slow?
Look there: My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3, and download the files and folders specified. They shouldn't be hard to find...
Can you give me the details concerning your graphic card?

Re: Sims 3 lagging and being slow?
Yep, that's just fine...
I have bad news for you: have a look here and go down to Nvidia, Geforce your number 8600. You're actually in luck your game runs!
Ok, if you really want to play without buying a new graphic card, you can go to your in game settings and put everything to Medium. It will look less classy, but will run better!

Oh Nooo! Haha.
The last stupid question, how do I change the dragline of the game? And if I do, will it run normally but with just less graphics quality?

Re: Sims 3 lagging and being slow?
Ok, launch your game, then click the button with ... then Options.
Then there should be a graphic tab, change those settings:
1) Lighting / Shadows - If its on medium, only static (non moving) objects get shadows, and the shadows may not move over time.
2) Graphic Effects - to medium
3) Tree Detail - to medium
4) Draw Distance - I recomend to turn others down before this one.
5) Sim / Texture Detail - this is what makes your game UGLY. If you can keep these on high, do at all costs. Even on medium textures look blurry and terrible. Just a warning
