Sims Medieval Error

Hey there I checked the boards to see if I could find the error I'm getting and I couldn't so here goes. Whenever I boot up Sims Medieval, I have the Pirates and Nobel's Expansion as well, I get to the launcher and launch the game and then I get this error. I've done everything I can think of. I've reinstalled twice, followed the installation guides to the letter and I'm still getting the error. Anyone have any ideas? I'm getting the same error for the Sims 3 as well so I've got no idea what's going on.

If the image isn't showing it says:

Unable to start game
Service initialization failed (0x0175d824)

Hello and welcome to the forum,

Please have a look at this post here:

Then focus on steps #5 & #6. That means, you will need to (re-)apply the manual patch (links are in step #2), and then the "Medieval Ultimate fix". After that, re-start the game and see if it works this time. Good luck !

Thank you for the welcome and for the help! I followed the instructions again and I'm still getting the error. I even re-downloaded both the patch and the fix again. Still the same thing.

Unable to start game
Service initialization failed (0x0175d824)

I am very confused.

Sorry for the late reply, but have you tried starting the game "directly", without the launcher ? Navigate to C:\Program files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims Medieval\Game\Bin and then look for a file named TSM.exe. Double-click it and see what happens.

Thanks again, sorry on my own late reply. I have tried launching it directly and I still get the same error.

I'm thinking you may have messed up somewhere during installation, and pretty badly. Did you for example move the installation folder of TSM elsewhere, after you installed it ? If yes, then don't do that again please. Smile

Select your install location at the beginning of the installation, and then just leave the folders there.

As for the current problem, try un-installing TSM + TSM Pirates and Nobles, and re-boot the computer. After the re-boot, re-install, according to the guide I posted in my above reply.

Hey there, I've done as you've suggested and reinstalled everything. I didn't move anything during installation, I didn't previously either but a reinstall is always worth a shot, and I'm still getting the error.
