Island Paradise won't start!
Hello. I've searched the forum,s but I didn't find anyone that seemes to have the same problem as me.
I've got all expansions and stuffpacks installed except 70's80'90's stuffpack.
Not sure if relevant, but I own the basegame "leagally" and the rest is pirated from this site.
So I know how to update, crack etc. It has worked without problems in the past.
Anyways; I updated to 1.55, and then applied the ultimate fix (to all expansions and stuffpacks).
I opened the launcher again, to see if it was still up to date, it was.
I then applied the crack. Started up the launcer. It won't start.
It will however start a process in the task manager..
I tried starting the game through CC magic; I only get a black screen (that last for over an hour before I closed it down)
TLDR; game seems to be working until I apply the crack.
Thank you for any help!

Hello,
What happens if you double-click on the TS3W.exe in the base game location ? It's in C:\Program files(x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin.

I also removed all the mods I had installer, in case they were the problem. But I still got the same problem

Re-apply that manual patch (version 1.55) and then the "Ultimate fix" (the two files from the #crack sub-folder are enough, put these two files into the base game location).
If that doesn't help, re-boot your computer, then lower your computer screen resolution (I've changed mine to 1024 x 768) and double-click on the TS3W.exe again.
//EDIT
Depending on how many expansions and CC you installed, it might take a bit for the "splashscreen" of Island paradise to show up, which means you should wait a little while.

Have you aleady tried any of the suggestions posted here ? (wrong link posted).
A small note: if you want to use the "4 GB patch", then you need to patch the TS3W.exe in the base game location.

Re: Island Paradise won't start!
I renamed my sims3 folder, and it worked! I've moved over my saved files and saved sims.. so it's probably some CC that is **** up =P thanks for you help!
//EDIT
I've found out that it's dcdb5.dbc that is causing the problem! If I use all files except that one in my DCCach folder, it works perfectly.
is there a way to open that file to see what sim3pack that is causing this? or should I just delete it all, and be glad that I could save almost 5 gig of CC =P

Hello,
You can actually test the mods or CC one by one, by placing (if they are mods) or installing them (if they are sets of CC) one by one in The Sims 3 document and run the game, and placing and installing another mod or CC and run the game again, and so on. But that would be time-consuming for you since you have lots of CC and mods.

Re: Island Paradise won't start!
well I don't have the original sims3packs.. I always delete them after installing, so all I have left is the dcdb5.dbc file (that seems to be corrupt)

Re: Island Paradise won't start!
I'm experiencing something similar. After a lot of tries I got the game to load but now I won't installed the CC that's installed through the launcher. It tells me over and over again that the sims 3 stopped working. What can I do?

Unfortunately, there is no way (I can think of) to "look into" the .dbc files.
There is not much I can offer at this point, except for this maybe: the only ".sims3packs" that are absolutely safe to download & install are the official "store items". It may sound exaggerated, but I would advise you (for the future) to ignore ALL ".sims3pack" files, which are NOT store items.
Yes, delete that one particular file, if it helps your game, but keep in mind that depending on how big that file is, you will not only lose the corrupted item, but also all the others which are in that .dbc file.
