Sims 3 launching problem
Hi I was wondering if you can help me out with a sims 3 launching problem. First I did read the Must read on how to install the sims correctly. I have 1 question regarding this. I have high end loft stuff and night life expansion packs but I do not have the ones listed and wasn't really planning on buying any more just to play the game. But if I was to follow your post regarding how to install the sims correctly with what I have I had a question also regarding step 4.
I bought and downloaded the base and 2 expansion packs from origin they came as a bundle. I was not able to install the sims 3 base game from the origin launcher period. I uninstalled re installed re downloaded both the game and origin launcher. The only way I was able to install the sims 3 was by manually navigating to the origin games folder and running the setup from there. So as far as where to put the crack would it be the origin way even though I installed it manually or the ea folder?
And if that will not work is there anything else I can do to run this game. The error I get when running the sims by clicking on the sims 3 icon is missing shortcut windows is searching for sims3launcher.exe to locate the file yourself click browse. When I browse to it it says unable to start please install base game.
When I try to start the game using either addon icons it opens up the sims 3 game launcher but I get the same message about re installing the base game.
I installed the super patch and upon trying to run the game it attempted for a second to update than errored out saying there was a problem see the log for details and than if i click it closes but I have no idea where the log is.

Hello,
Did you put the two files from the #crack folder of the Ultimate fix into C:\Program files(x86)\Origin games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin ?

The cracks would belong into the Origin folder (see my previous post).punkinwjen wrote:No I posted above that I didn't know if the crack went there or the ea folder sense I installed it manually
What I don't understand is that you can only start the installation "from the Origin folder", but OK. You could try to do a clean un-install though: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Uninstall
Then re-boot the computer. Afterwards continuw with re-installing.

Re: Sims 3 launching problem
sadly i did uninstall it that way as well and i have no idea why I had to install it manually the expansion packs installed fine from the origin launcher but the sims 3 would start to install, I would see the installation bar than it was done and upon hovering over my game in origin it would say install again repeatadly.

My honest suggestion ? Get rid of this "Origin" thing (which for many users only causes trouble and makes the installation of the game more complicated, etc.) and everything connected to it.
And then download ALL of your games from "Games4TheWorld", via torrent and without Origin: http://www.games4theworld.org/downloads.html
This might sound ridiculous, since you already spent some money, but I don't see any other practical solution to this. You could, of course, wait for a second opinion from another Helper, but most of the others are not regularly available at the forum right now, so...you might want to consider doing it all over again - without Origin.

Re: Sims 3 launching problem
I guess I wasted money than but the crack wont open either it errors when I try to even open the exe to attempt to put the folders where you suggested. Oddly it works fine on my laptop which has poorer specs than my desktop.

Re: Sims 3 launching problem
Firstly, if you purchased the games from Origin then you do not need to apply the ultimate fix. Uninstall the Sims 3 and delete the Sims 3 setup folder that the Origin downloader created. Log out of Origin and clear your browser cookies, then restart.
Launch the origin launcher and log back in to your origin account. Open your Library and select the Sims 3 base game. It should be showing Available for Download or the Install button should be displayed. Let origin re download and install the game and it should work fine.
The ultimate fix is for users like me use both purchased and G4TW releases and/or users who use G4TW releases only. Legitimately purchased games do not need the fix.

In order to fully understand your problem, I have a few questions. What do you mean by "I was not able to install the sims 3 base game from the origin launcher period'? If you cannot install the game because of the serial code provided by EA, you should read this. Read the latest post to find out how to redeem the code. Be sure to read carefully the instructions given by Humble Bundle along with the keys.
Back to your installation problems, can you uninstall the base game and the expansion packs via Revo Uninstaller? Be sure to clear all registries after uninstalling. Afterwards, follow the following steps:
(1) Download and install the base game and the expansion packs via Origin.
The following steps are optional depending on the decision if you want to download any expansions from G4TW (www.games4theworld.org) or not:
(2) Download any expansions you want from www.games4theworld.org. Preferably expansion packs/stuff packs released after Generations/Generations.
(3) Install them one by one by extracting them via WinRAR and double-clicking setup.exe/autorun.exe.
(4) Apply the manual patch, which can be downloaded here.
(5) Download the latest Ultimate Fix here.
(6) Drag and drop the content of #crack of the Ultimate Fix to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin.
(7) Run the game to see if it works.
