Backing Up Game Empty Backing Up Game

Post by Guest Fri 19 Jul 2013, 03:22

Okay, so recently my laptops fan went out and I am taking it it to be repaired, i also know there are other issues with my laptop so my fear it that it will be replaced or they will factory reset it. I don't want to have to go through the process of downloading each torrent and installing it again and then downloading all of the store content, so my question is are there ways to save the expansion packs and the store content i downloaded on a backup hard drive or something. Help

(P.S. I also would like to say im computer literate but i learn new things everyday so please be patient, Thanks.)

Well, I know u can get ur saved game and the .sims3packs from out of my documents/electronicarts/downloads and the saved game from the saved games folder in the same area. As for the expansions themselves, are they the CDs or the ISo files?

Hello there,

If you go to My documents/Electronic Arts and backup the whole "The Sims 3" folder to an external hard-drive, you will basically backup your savefiles, your installed mods/CC and even the in-game options. Wink

As for the actual game installations, the most practical way in my opinion is to backup the actual downloads of the games, so that you can immediately re-install them later on, without having to re-download them.

If you downloaded your games from "Games4TheWorld", then the file format of the game downloads is .RAR. You need to open these files with WinRAR, and then you have to extract them to e.g. an empty folder. From that newly created folder, you can select "autorun.exe" to start the installation.

But if you already deleted these "installation files", then you have to re-download them, I'm afraid. Wat.
