Game does not start (ERROR 0x024e424f)

Hey all,

So now I have installed Sims 3 and al the Expansions. I have apllied the crack and the ultimate fix. however when I try to start the game it simply won't start and I get this error code: 0x024e424f. What can I do?

Hello,

There are a few things you can try:

(1) Make sure you have the latest Ultimate Fix and apply it. Download it here.
(2) Make sure you have manually updated The Sims 3 to the latest version. Apply it here.
(3) Do you have any mods? If yes, rename the folder C:\Users\(your computer name)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 and run the game.

Heey, that I tried that before posting but it didn't work. So I tried it again and it still doesn't work. The game keeps crashing back to Desktop when I press TS3W.exe
When I press the TS3.exe the game also crashes.

What version is your game?
Please make sure you update it to 1.55, then use the Ultimate Fix.

Is there anyway that something could've gone wrong during installation of one of the expansions? For example World Adventures where you need to manually update otherwise the installation won't continue?

Uninstall the game completely. See this.

After uninstalling:

Install Base Game, then Apply the latest patch (manual patch).

Install the EP's and the SP's that you want. Without World Adventure.

Apply the Ultimate Fix.

Hello,

Cat2006house's tips are the right first step in this case actually (only if nothing else works, then you can try a clean un-install).

Did you already run the TS3W.exe as "Administrator" ?

By the way, do you have any mods installed ? If yes, what exactly are these mods ?

If you really renamed or removed the folder with the name "The Sims 3" and you still get problems; and if you applied the latest version of the Ultimate fix, you might indeed do a clean un-install. After un-installing, some people recommend re-booting the computer - while I'm not quite sure if this is always necessary, you could re-start too, because it doesn't really hurt.

But why should I not install World adventures?
