Error while saving the sims 3. [SOLVED] Empty Error while saving the sims 3. [SOLVED]

I have a problem saving the sims 3. Everytime I go to save it says there was a error while saving the sims 3. So I tried the save as trick and it didnt work either. And on top of that my game froze and I lost that whole town Sad. Does anyone know how to fix this.

Hello,

Do you get a specific "error code" like "error 12/16/" or whatever ? What exactly does the error message say ?

Also, you could go to My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Saves. Look for your folder with the name of your savefile; it should look like this:

(Name of your savefile).sims3

Move that folder away, for example onto the desktop.

Now, go back to the savefolder location, and look if there is a folder with the name (Name of your savefile).sims3.backup. If yes, then remove the ".backup" ending in the folder name. Then start the game again, and see if you have at least restored your savegame at an earlier point...


I'm sorry to hear that you seemingly lost all your in-game progress because of that, but for the future, it would be a good idea to regularly save your sim(s) into the "bin" (in "edit town"-mode). So that if something similar happens again, you at least have your sim(s) in the bin to put them into a new savegame.

Thank you I think I figured out what my problem was. I had the portrait mod to allow over 8 sims in a household. And I think it was messing up my game. So, I did what you suggested and moved some of the sims out. Now everything is fine. I think I will get rid of that mod.
