Anyway to avoid this service initialization failed (0x024e424f) without reinstalling everything? [SOLVED]
Hi,
I've installed some packs and applied the fix but I get this error when I click TS3W. I've looked this up at the internet and some's solution is to re-install everything and I cannot do that right now because my DVD Drive is not working. Is there anyway to fix this without re-installing everything? My game generated a new Sims 3 folder in documents so It's not related to mods and CC. So I think it's related to a registry problem. How can I fix it?

Hello,
Try re-applying the "manual patch " first, and then re-apply the Ultimate fix. Remember, if you use the manual patch, it's enough to only use the two files that are inside the #crack folder of the Ultimate fix. Copy the two files into the base game location.
By the way, last time you talked about the Sims 3, you had that strange error about the file named "d3dx9.dll". So now you don't get that error anymore ?

I did what you said, and I get exactly the same message.
And about my last issue, I reinstalled all packs with transferring disc files to a memory flash and installed them with it. It was a really pain and I really cannot do that again.
I think I might have found the solution. Does this error show up because my crack is higher than my patch? My patch's version is 1.54.95. I have used G4TW's latest fix which is 1.55's. So, I have to use the older crack?

Try this: go to the start menu and then to "Run". Type in regedit. Now go to the following location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Electronic Arts/Sims/The Sims 3. You should now see some "folders" with the names of the expansions that you installed. Are there any folders from expansions you don't have ? If yes, right-click on the unnecessary folder and choose "delete". Maybe that will help you.
But frankly, I suspect that something went wrong with your un-install last time, which is the reason why you are getting this persistent error.
I don't know how you un-installed "The Sims 3", but I looked again at your other topic from last time - and I saw I already suggested a manual un-install method: http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Uninstall I know this will take some time and effort, but please, for now, try to forget any "quick" un-install tools like "REVO Un-installer" or "CCleaner". A manual un-install is BY FAR the best method to deal with that problem, and the guide that I posted is one of the best available. Also, some of the other Helpers recommend to re-boot the computer after that "clean" un-install.
I know it might be a pain to un-install again; but as far as I am concerned, I have said everything here, I'm afraid. Maybe one of the other Helpers has a better idea...

I edited my post, did you see this:
Do you have something to tell about that?

The latest version of the manual patch is available here (version 1.55): https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1870-can-t-update-the-sims-3-to-v155-fix-manual-patch
And yes, the version of the Ultimate fix and the version of the manual patch have to be the same... the reason I didn't mention that was because I assumed it was clear, which turned out to be wrong.
Besides: if someone has already posted a reply, it might not be a good idea to edit your older post after that; as far as I'm concerned, I tend to overlook details added in previous posts. Namely details, that weren't there at the time I wrote my reply.

Ok you better take look at my location. Dude, I'm in Iran! Internet connection is way too slow to download that now. So I'd rather have the 1.54's crack instead of downloading & installing patch 1.55 and cracking it. Please, do you have 1.54's crack?
And thanks for the suggestion.

OK, I have to admit that I'm not that familiar with internet connections in (some) other countries than the one I'm in now...but concerning a crack for the "1.54" patch, you have to ask the Admin for that; according to the update history of the "Ultimate fix", the crack doesn't seem to have been 'optimised' for the patch level 1.54.
But there might be workaround for you to update to version 1.55: http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:TS3_Patching:Patch_Download/Current
Scroll a bit down; and download the patch where it says "from 1.54 @ [xxx MB]". But you'll need to find out the right region version; either open up the launcher and look at the last digit of your base game patch level. Or you can go to C:\Program files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\skuversion.txt and open that text file - now look at the last digit where it says "GameVersion".
The last digit can either be: 1= Americas
2= Worldwide
3= Asia
5= Japan
7= Digital download version
So, depending on the last digit of your game version, you have to choose the appropriate patch for your "game region" (at the site I posted). If you downloaded the game from G4TW, the region should be 2, but please have a look yourself at that.
Good luck !

Hello,
It depends. My games are downloaded from G4TW. But the SKU value (the last digit) is 7. Here is the screenshot:
By the way, don't 1, 2 and 7 mean US, UK and worldwide respectively?

I think you can change that value for the BG and all packs and then try updating and it'll work.
Right now, while I'm downloading that patch, I'm waiting for Admin's response to the P.M. I sent him telling him to give me 1.54's fix. But it seems that he's not around, is he?
Okay, I downloaded that file and I received the Invalid File error.
Re-Install it is then.

Hello,
Admin is indeed away for a couple of weeks.
I'm afraid reinstalling isn't going to help if you're going to use the same patch and crack.
You could try a No CD mod, as present in the temporary fix (found with the other fixes) which should work as long as you have the original exe and dll in the base game\bin.

I'm reinstalling pets but it seems that I'm missing the "Thumbnails" folder. Could someone please upload that folder for me? Or, If I copy Base Game's thumbnail folder, will it work?

Hello,
You don't need to do that. This folder will be generated once you run the launcher/the game (this applies to other files in The Sims 3 folder in the Documents too).

No, when I'm installing Pets, it asks me to show the directory in which there is a thumbnails folder and because I don't have it, I cannot continue. Please, do you have Thumbnails folder in your Pets installation files to give me?

Hello,
If you have downloaded The Sims 3: Pets instead of The Sims 3: Pets [Fixed], you will need this fix.

Hello,
Here are the links to The Sims 3: Pets thumbnails, but still I am nost sure if this will work. Create a new folder and name it Thumbnails and put these 3 files into it.
