Another "Service Initialization Failed (0x024e424f)" error... [SOLVED]

Hi,

First let me say this is a very good site. I browsed around a bit and it seems anyone with a problem will most probably get it solved here:)

As to my problem. I get the above error when running the game. Steps i took:

1. Installed Sims 3
2. Updated the game using this: The.Sims.3.Update.v1.50.56-BAT
3. Still haven't copied any of the crack files not from Sims 3 or from the Update files.
4. Installed "Generations"
5. Apply cracks (From ultimate fix newest version ofc) both files.
6. Get error.

Also i blocked from my firewall the updater or anything that wanted to connect to the internet. Also i have searched the forum for all errors like mine and tried all solutions (i.e. registry, using other files, deleting/moving Sims 3 under documents etc etc.) but nothing worked. If i dont update the game i cannot install Generations but i can play the game without any expansions. So any ideas? Thank you.

/edit: Dont know if its important but the installation folder for Generations is different from the Sims 3 original installation folder.

Try reapplying the manual patch, then using the fix again.

Do you mean you changed the installation folder originally, then Generations still installed in the default spot?

Kinda. Both installations are installed in different folders from another and from their defaults. When you say the manual patch what do you mean? The one mentioned in the Ultimate fix topic 1.30 smthin? And how will i upgrade from there to 1.50.56? Also i tried installings Sims 3 and then the patch (1.50.56), without installing Generations, and again the game wouldnt start but i received no error.

Follow steps 2-4 there.

Can you post a screenshot/link to one of where your games installed? (just replace the dots with (dot), or something.)

If you Installed Sims 3 Base Game and updated it to version 1.50 using the manual patch then you must use Ultimate Fix to run the game .. Just read the instructions provided on the Ultimate Fix.

As i said before when updating to 1.50 base game or with expansions it doesnt work. Not the ultimate fix or anything.

The game is installed at: F:\Gamez\Sims 3 and generations is installed in F:\Gamez\Sims 3 - Generations.

So you did change the installation path when the base game was installing. Is this on an external drive? Have you removed the external (if it is one) at all since installation?

Nope. Its internal drive. All my games are installed under that path.

OP understood perfectly. This is an issue that needs a bit of a different approach, which is why Admin requested the additional method that he did.

He's normally on (for me, It's 12:40 right now), around dinner time, maybe a little later, so for you, that'd be basically in the middle of the night. I'm sure Admin will be able to give you more exact times he's available when he sees this, just thought I'd give you a rough estimate.

Sorry about that...problem with internet...always gets disconnected and forgets to reconnect:) Anyways im gona try and "get" another sims 3 + 1 of the expansions from other source and try that... unless you can guide me through those registry changes you told me about...im familiar with registry editing etc so i presume it wont be that hard...

If that didn't work, (double-)check all the "Install Dir" and "ExePath" values and see if they are correct! One misspelled letter can cause this problem, so check critical.

And if you have some spare time, you can always try this:

*Backup your savegames

1. Completely uninstall The Sims 3 and ALL expansion packs, using Your Uninstaller! Pro, which you can download from www.games4theworld.org . Use the "Super Mode".
2. Restart your PC, after uninstalling everything. (!)

DO NOT skip any steps and RE-DOWNLOAD both the manual patch and the Ultimate Fix.

Hmmm i got it to work. What i did was install another expansion 1st (the 70 80 thing) and then installed Generations. For some reason it worked. Quick question though: now when i start the game it shows the 80s logo. Does that mean it has only THAT expansion available? And furthermore when installing other expansions do they run all together when running the game? Thank you.
