CAS Problem. [SOLVED] Empty CAS Problem. [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Sat 10 Aug 2013, 14:04

When I start a new game and I get to the CAS part to pick my sims, it will only let me use the one that is on the screen.  I can't choose any other sim.  I can click on other sims, but it just highlights and does nothing else.  If I choose the one it has posing and then add another sim, same thing.  I can only use the one that it puts on the screen then.  I have all expansions.

The girl posing is the one that was there when I came to CAS to create a family.  I clicked on the girl on the bottom right.  As you see, she is highlighted.  But she will not take the other girls place.  I let this sit for about 30 minutes and it will not choose her.  She is a premade sim from BTBSims.  But if I try to click a vanilla sim, it still won't choose her either.

Hello,

First, try to delete the "unnecessary" cache files, located in My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3:

-CASPartCache.package
-compositorCache.package
-scriptCache.package
-simCompositorCache.package
-socialCache.package
-plus the contents of the folders "WorldCaches" & "Thumbnails"
(if the "WorldCaches" folder is not there or if there are no contents in it, then it's fine too).

Then re-start the game and see if that changed anything.

I didn't post my problems until I read tirelessly on past problems of everyone else.  The problem I have, I haven't seen anywhere.  I do what you have suggested every time I log off.  It has always worked.  The screenshot that I posted, I went ahead and chose the girl in the screen and the game plays flawlessly.  I just can't change her to a choice that I want.  Don't howl at the moon over this, but it is a flaw somewhere.

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that, but many users have reported problems with downloaded sims. If you go to My documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Saved Sims there might be a file called "Downloadedsims.index". If it's there, then delete it.

Otherwise: does the same happen if you actually "switch" between the pre-made sims by EA ? So if you have one such pre-made sim in the beginning, and then you switch to another one ?

That has solved the problem.  Simply deleting the "Downloadedsims.index" file.  Thanks a lot.

Moderator edit: good to hear that. Have fun ! Topic closed.
