Unable to Start Game

This seems to happen every time I attempt to upgrade my base Sims 3 game with a stuff or expansion I run into a similar error. That is; 
When I try to run the game form the icon through start-up I get the error " There was an error during startup. Please see the Log for more details.

After searching the forums, I tried to start the game up directly from the bin, TS3.exe, and receive the error " Unable to start game Service initialization failed (0x0175dcbb) "

This is when trying to update from TS3 base game to TS3 University Life.

Please help, I've been struggling with this issue for while now.
