Custom Content Issues. [SOLVED] Empty Custom Content Issues. [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Mon 28 Oct 2013, 19:30

Hi, Its my first time on these forums so I am not sure if this is the right place Noob

I have all the Expansions and stuffs packs installed and my game is updated to 1.63 with the ultimate Fix.
I have a handful of custom content which is compressed and all the store content in packages.
It seems that some of the store content isn't showing up, but they are downloaded. I have tried resetting my game, and  checking for conflicts but nothing seems to work.
Any help would be much appreciated. I apologize if this is the wrong area.

Thank you SmileHelp

Hello!

Please download this: http://www.modthesims.info/d/387006.  You may have to make an account on this site to view it (that, or log in). The site has instructions on how to use it, but basically it scans your folders where all of your CC is located and checks FOR you if there are any conflicts, errors, etc.  You may also want to try this mod: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/ErrorTrap.

You have the option of either disabling those specific files or deleting them.  It's super useful!

Let us know if you have any further questions! Good luck! Smile

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply! I have used it several times and there was one file that was conflicting from a package file that came with a Sim so I deleted it, which didn't work, and than reset my game and checked again but nothing seems to be working unfortunately.

You're welcome!  When you say not working, what exactly do you mean?  That store content still isn't showing up, or?  Also, what do you mean by you reset your game - you mean you deleted a package file and then booted up your game to check on it?

Some of the store content has been showing up while others aren't.
And I deleted a conflicting package file, then renamed my sims 3 folder, launched the game to create a new one and put my mods back in.

Is all of your store content .package files, or are some sims3packs?

Also, if possible, are you able to take a screenshot of your /my documents/electronic arts/the sims 3 folder? Enlarged/maximized?

And your sims3packs are located in your Downloads folder, correct? Smile And yes, you uploaded those perfectly, thank you.

What I was basically doing was attempting to see that you had the correct folders made for your mods/packages/sims3packs.

Oh good Very Happy

Yeah the Sims3packs are in the Downloads folders. I'm completely clueless as to what I can do. I have searched on google and here and have tried everything I have come across. Nothing just seems to work!

Are the items (CC) not showing up .sims3packs or .package files? Or both?

Which items are not showing up exactly?  I ask because of a few reasons, the main being that I'm really curious about this lol.  The only thing I can guess is happening is that a mod or another file/s is overriding your ability to see specific CC in-game.  Have you tried moving your Mods folder to your desktop and then launching your game like that?  In other words, forcing your game to run without mods BUT WITH your CC?

Be advised, if you have families or load up your families, it may revert some of your sims back to original bodies or clothing (depending on your mods).  I'd suggest loading your game and testing but NOT saving your game at all.

Doh! I never even thought of removing my mods!! Its only the Package files. Most of my patterns and a few store items are not showing up in my game. I'll remove the mods, start the game up, go into a new world and see if they show up.

//EDIT

Nope, no luck :/

I figured out a solution that may work for you:

1. Go into My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3.
2. Copy the entire Sims 3 folder and paste it at a different location (for example, your desktop) as a backup folder in case something goes wrong. This will save anything you may need later and keep it intact.. i.e., all of your saves. lol
3. Delete the following files from My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 (not the backup folder):
CasPartCache.package: [CAS parts that appear in Create-A-Sim]
compositorCache.package: [New objects that would appear in Buy/Build mode]
        scriptCache.package: [Mods or Hacks]
        simCompositorCache.package: [New Sims, default skins]
socialCache.package.package: [Information about social aspects (Introduced with Patch 1.31)]
4.  Open the Content Patch folder (My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Content Patch) and delete ContentPatch.package.
5.  Open the Download Folder (My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Content Patch/Download) and delete all of the files ending in    .part
6.  Open the the folder DCCache just inside of The Sims 3 folder (My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/DCCache) and delete all of the files in there.
7.  Delete all of the files inside of DCBackup (My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/DCBackup)
8.   Open the launcher and install your downloaded content slowly (5 or 6 files at a time, 10 at most).
9.   Play The Sims 3 and see if your DLC is there.

Just a small hint: usually, it's a bad idea to merge several mods into one ".package" file. So please, don't do this again and re-download the mods, and put them back in one by one.

Merging clothes, hairstyles, furniture (stuff like that) is OK, but not mods.

//EDIT

Alternatively, you might indeed delete all the stuff Sephymuffins mentioned in her last post. But instead of re-installing with the launcher, you might try "CC Magic". For a quick guide, see this topic:

Did you try removing the folder Mods completely? Also it's not recommended to delete ccmerged.package in the folder DCBackup. Other files can be deleted, but not this... Deleting this will make some of the store content malfunctional.

If removing the folder Mods doesn't work at all, rename the folder C:\Users\(your computer name)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 and run the launcher/game. Move the folder Saves and Library from the renamed folder to the new folder. This will restore all the sims you have created and the saves.

It seems to me that you might have downloaded the store content that has been modified...

You download them somewhere other than www.games4theworlddownloads.org, right? If that is the case, this can be a problem, since I cannot guarantee the store content uploaded from somewhere will always work.

Last resort, rename the folder I have mentioned. Download the new Mods framework (delete the old one). Place the packages to the correct folder.

Also, if possible, create a new save to see if the same problem persists (after renaming the folder and installing the packages).
