error during startup. [SOLVED]

here's the deal: I have a pc with windows 7. bought the sims 3 and downloaded all of the expansions. I installed a bunch of them and my game wasn't working so I uninstalled everything and tried to reinstall all of it according to your instructions, included the fix and applied all cracks correctly. after installing each expansion I started the game and made sure it ran properly. I installed every expansion in order and everything was working fine until I got to outdoor living stuff. I installed it and everything went smoothly, but when I tried to open the game it tells me "there was an error during startup. please see the log for more details." so, I uninstalled outdoor living stuff in the hopes that would magically erase my problems, but I don't even know what the words "crack" or "patch" mean. I assume computers run on magic.

in case you can't tell, i'm computer ILLITERATE. help.

Please follow this video:

If your pc is 32-bit, please navigate yourself to this folder instead in registry editor: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SOFTWARE >> Sims and see if there are unneccessary registry entries. If your pc is 64-bit, just follow the video without changing the directory.

as far as I could tell, there weren't any "leftover" keys in the registry. there was one for each expansion and the base game.

Hello,

I am afraid that the only way to solve this is to reinstall all The Sims 3 base game and the expansions:

(1) Download Your Uninstaller Pro from www.games4theworld.org.
(2) Uninstall the base game and all of the expansions/stuff packs via the Uninstaller with Super Mode (so that all the registry entries regarding The Sims 3 can be erased)
(3) Reinstall the base game.
(4) Download and apply the manual patch: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1870-can-t-update-the-sims-3-to-v157-fix-manual-patch
(5) Install the expansions/stuff packs you want.
(6) Download the latest Ultimate Fix if you have expansions that are cracked: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t752-the-sims-3-ultimate-fix-should-fix-most-of-your-problems
(7) Open the "# Crack" folder in the Ultimate Fix and drag & drop the .exe and .dll file in there to exactly: C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin and choose "Copy and Replace" on the pop-up that appears, telling you the files already exist in that folder.
(If you downloaded and installed your base game via Origin, the crack goes into this folder instead: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin )

Hello,

This error can be caused by a lot of things, but usually it's the Registry, as shown in the video.
If that didn't work, you can also try backing up and removing this folder completely: Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\

If that didn't work either, please tell us where you got all the games from exactly. If you have a modified version, it's caused by that, no doubt. (Since modified torrents mess with the Registry)

i purchased the game and it came with late night and high end loft stuff. i uninstalled everything with the program you suggested, i have re-installed the base game and i'm about to start installing the expansions, every one of which I downloaded from games4theworld off pirate bay. should I just start in order from world adventures? or do I first need to install another expansion to get the ultimate fix to work?

You shouldn't need any order, but just to make sure you could install them in chronological order. Just install the games and do not apply any cracks.
Whenever the Wizard prompts you to update, just go ahead with it. If it doesn't work, use the Manual Patch once and for all.
When your done with all your installs, make sure your game is 1.57 or apply the Manual Patch. Then, download the latest Ultimate Fix and copy the files from the #Crack folder to the base game folder (be careful that if you purchased the base game on Origin, you have to go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin\The Sims 3\Game\Bin).
That should make your game work!
