Mounting Sims3?

Re: Mounting Sims3?
Hello,
Yes, that is the only one you need to mount.
Depending on how your PC is setup, my suggestion to you is to either double-click the .iso files (one should be called startdisk, the other disk 1). When you do this, it not only automatically mounts them, but a file browser window will pop up and you'll need to right-click on the Setup.exe file and run as 'Administrator'.
The other option, is to right-click the .iso files and select 'Mount' all the way at the top. This will give you the same effect, hopefully.
My advice is to mount both. This gives your PC the illusion you've actually inserted two disks, AND this spares you having to mount one of the disks during installation of the base-game. The game will ask you to "insert --- disk" in the middle of installation.
Hope this helped.

Re: Mounting Sims3?
Hello,
No problem! And yes, that's the part that is a bit tricky. My suggestion is to try both .iso files from the drop down menu you are speaking of. The 'Browse' option, in other words. If you select the wrong disk, it will tell you that you did, so then the only other viable option would be the other .iso (disk).
You NORMALLY want to go from startdisk.iso to disk1.iso.

See that tiny little arrow (it's black), to the left of '--ROM Drive (F:) SIMS3'? Click that to minimize the contents of one of the .isos. If you have the other mounted you should see it in that little window you have up. Click on it and select 'ok'.

Re: Mounting Sims3?
Oh! I didn't realize you were using Daemon tools. I was instructing you via how Windows works on its own! I didn't realize that you were using a separate program. And no worries, you aren't making it complicated.
What you need to do is this: Mount the startdisk.iso. Once you get half way through the setup and it asks you to insert --disk, go to Daemon Tools and UN-mount the startdisk.iso, then MOUNT the disk1.iso. Go back to your game and then select it. That should do the trick!

Re: Mounting Sims3?
Lol ok, will try this.
So to be on the safe side when the little window pops up asking for disk I leave that open then unmount and mount disk 1 with it still open?

It won't harm the installation process. I'm pretty sure what your problem was earlier was that I was instructing you to mount BOTH images rather than just one, because 1) I don't believe the program you're using allows two disks at a time to be mounted, and 2) I was just under the impression you weren't using a program at all to mount the .isos.

Re: Mounting Sims3?
No no, the .iso file when you right-click on it, it should say 'Mount' as an option. If not, we may have to try something else, I suppose.court99 wrote:Do you need blank disks for this?

If its any help at all... I have the sims 3 base game but I read somewhere that you cant add the expansions with it that way.. or something like that.

Re: Mounting Sims3?
You have the base-game in CD form or digital download? Because if so, definitely use that. You actually CAN install pirated expansions on to it. It'll make it easier for you anyway, because you'd only have needed Daemon Tools for the base-game and if you already have the base-game anyway, there's no need to use a pirated one.

Re: Mounting Sims3?
Yes I have the base game CD form, I'll have to re install it then which is no biggie.
Ok, so I downloaded the expansions I wanted from here ---> http://www.games4theworld.org/downloads.html
I can still use them with the base game CD form?

Re: Mounting Sims3?
Yes, you can.
My suggestion is this: Install the base-game, torrent all expansions you want then go here and follow the instructions as accurately as possible.

Re: Mounting Sims3?
Hello,
Not a problem! The rest of the expansions are self-explanatory, just make sure you do not CRACK any expansions until the very end - you will use something called the Ultimate Fix to crack the BASE game, and that it is. Do NOT follow the 'installation instructions' found within each expansion's .rar file! This may be puzzling to you now but once you're actually installing the expansions, you'll realize what I'm talking about. ONLY use the 'installation instructions' text file for serial numbers. Just install everything in one go, then follow the instructions (the 1 - 5 steps) I linked you to earlier.
I'll keep this thread open, so feel free to post any questions or errors you may get while going through this rather long process.
