Game freezing and lagging non stop. [SOLVED] Empty Game freezing and lagging non stop. [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Sat 07 Dec 2013, 11:25

So I upgraded my graphics card from eVGA Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT 512MB, because it was getting old, and my Sims 3 games were becoming too slow to play and I wanted to have DirectX 11 for future games. So I got myself a eVGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 2GB (Which I thought would be enough power for Sims 3 and future Sim games), once I had everything set up, everything was working perfectly and fast, I was so happy. I load up my other games and they work perfectly on high settings, but I load up The Sims 3 and boom, its like I am running an ancient computer, every 15 seconds there is a short lag then a second later its fine then it freezes... and its about a 7 second freeze... and its like this threw out the whole game, from start till I am annoyed, and shut down the game. Build/Buy/Edit town all work fine, just game-play sucks. I have all my settings set to max.

So I decided I would start my computer fresh, and move on to Windows 8.1 because it looks pretty. I was very against it when Windows 8 first came out, but I had a change of heart lol. So installed everything nicely installed all the stuff and expansion packs in order and followed all the rules, game updates to latest patch and everything seems fine. I load the game up and same crap again... I was about to pull my hair out, how can this be, so I came back to check out the forum and see what I could dig up in the posts. I found a lot of stuff, but none of them work for me. I have tried windowed mode, turning settings down, DEP, Removing Custom Content, Adding exceptions of the files and folders of The Sims 3 on firewall and anti-virus, I also tried turning both off to see if that was what was effecting it, I also have done "testingcheatsenabled true" and resetSIM, and supposedly deleting scott family in Island Paradise could help as it was and is the town I am playing, and I have deleted cache stuff too. Nothing... Nothing works, its so very disappointing having a computer that is more than capable to run games that are more power hungry, and they would probably run smooth on high settings, but nothing ever seems good enough for The Sims 3(I guess we can thank EA for that).

My computer Specs is this:

Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

Intel Core i5 3550 @ 3.30GHz

8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 686MHz

ASUST P8Z77-V LX (motherboard if it matters?)

EVGA GeForce GTX 760 w/ EVGA ACX Cooling 2GB

WD Blue 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5 (Main hard drive with sim games and windows)

Provided the specs just in case if someone asks. Anyways, thanks for reading and I really hope someone will be able to help. Smile

--edit-- I also forgot to mention that the freeze/lag is just the sims, but everything else is still going like music and sim blob.

I can see you have done a lot and make a lot of efforts in regard to solving the problem.

You should try deleting these files in C:\Users\(your computer username)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3:

Create-a-Sim CacheCasPartCache.package
Build/Buy mode cachecompositorCache.package
Mod or custom content cachescriptCache.package
New Sims and skin cachesimCompositorCache.package
Simport-related (maybe?) and other social data, if you use the wall to integrate with your MyPage on thesims3.com sitesocialCache.package
files inside the folder "Thumbnails"*.package
pictures inside the folder "FeaturedItems"thumb_*.png
files inside DCCache (not all)missingdeps.idx & dcc.ent
files that end with .bin inside the folder "Downloads" and "SigsCache"*.bin
A file that is created once you download a Sim/Pet (inside the folder "SavedSims")Downloadedsims.index
All of the files inside the folder "WorldCaches" and "IGACache" and all of the files in the folder "DCBackup" except ccmerged.package/
You should also install 2 mods, Errortrap and Overwatch. They can help de-lag the game: www.nraas.wikispaces.com/Errortrap and www.nraas.wikispaces.com/Overwatch.

Also you must be 100% sure that you have completely remove Custom Content/Mods by removing the content inside the folder C:\Users\(your computer username)\Documents\Electronic Arts\DCCache, \InstalledWorlds, \SavedSims and \Mods.

Game freezing and lagging non stop. [SOLVED] Empty Re: Game freezing and lagging non stop. [SOLVED]

So I did everything you asked above, though I didn't have a SavedSims or WorldCaches folder, but I guess that is ok. I loaded up the game, and other than my sim being charcoal black because my skin was a CC, the game seemed fine with small lag. When I would take the taxi boat to go to other places it would lag and freeze for maybe like a second to two seconds. I traveled to the future and it seemed to be way less laggy to none and didn't really freeze. I did notice I had CC in my buy mode, not sure why, i downloaded some stuff from a site that was packed in .sim3pack files. I still don't get why there is lag though? I mean its more bearable than before, especially with out the freezing not happening often like before. Do you think it has to do with water or something. I forgot to mention the house is a house boat, not sure if that matters.

I was wondering also if its like this, does this mean I can't have CC? I just find that some of the original clothes/skins/make-up is so bland, and not to mention some furniture.

--EDIT-- Forgot to mention that I did have the Overwatch mod in there before, however it didn't seem to really do much. Though I was thinking maybe the Errortrap. Also, when installing the games, I use my original CDs for The Sims 3/Late Night/Generations and digital downloads of Supernatural/Seasons/Island Paradise. The rest are from games4theworld. When installing digital downloads, its different, because files don't install to program files x86 folder and I have to add them from the installer manually, but it worked fine when I did it before.

//EDIT

So I am guessing after looking through other threads that I am just out of luck I guess? Game freezing and lagging non stop. [SOLVED] Icon_cry

Custom Content can make a huge difference to the game, and can be the main reason why your game is lagging and freezing a lot. The Custom Content (skin, etc...) you have might be incompatible with the newest update 1.63, causing the game to stutter constantly. What I recommend is that only install the custom content that are official released by EA, or from Mod The Sims. Other than that, don't install anything from 3rd parties.

This bascially concludes how "dangerous" and "risky" installing outsider CC is.

You should also rename the folder C:\Users\(your computer username)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 if the game is still lagging. That should solve the problem you are having.

Ok, that would make sense, and how about The Sims Resource? Its been around since Sims 1 which I use to play before, would it be safe to download from them? Should I just test and play with their stuff? I figured it would would come down to the CC, but I did remove all the stuff and it was still doing the same thing, just not as bad as before, but only on Island Paradise World.

Also you don't think that me installing my copies of the few expansion packs would make it broken mixing together with G4TW copies?

The Sims Resource contains a lot of Custom Content that are not updated, and thus I don't recommend that unless the creators of the items have updated their items recently. However, you can always test them to see if it brings any effect on your game.

G4TW copies share similarities with the legit copies. There are only 2 differences between them. One is that you don't have to insert disk prior to playing the game if you install G4TW copies.

The other difference lies between the Origin copies/Steam copies and G4TW copies. You have to authorise the legit digital copy before you can install the game, and sometimes this is a problem for many users because they only have three chances for authorization, meaning that they can only install on 3 computers. However, G4TW copies can be installed on different computers unlimitedly.

As far as I know, no problem will be caused if you install both legit and G4TW copies correctly.

Thanks you for all your help, I seen it can get very busy around here, so I really do appreciate everything you did for me. I'll take the advice and sort through my CC and just start fresh, and make sure I only get recent to updated stuff. Thank you again Smile
