Saving my Family

Hi there!

First of all thanks for all your hard work just to make us ''happy players'' of TS3 Smile

I have the same issue as related above, but the difference is that I downloaded my game and all expansions from G4TW!
I re-installed everything on sunday (jan, 5), launched the game and tried to save my family to the library but I got the message ''the sims 3 stopped working and it will be closed''... Sad

I've tried it about 5 times.
I created another family and played = worked just fine!
My problem might have to be with my old family.
If the problem is really my old family, is there a way of saving them - not to the library but somewhere else?
Please, help me to save my family! I love them! Razz

p.s.: I have no mods, no customer contents, installed the game exactly as recommended by G4TW, applied the ultimate fix...all you guys recommend.

Hello,
I splitted your topic for this once, next time please open your own topic, it makes it easier for us to help you and for people to look for their problem...
The easiest way I find would be to go to Edit Town in your old game, and save your family (select your household, then there's a button to save it).
Then, with a new game, you can choose to use your family in the library.

I just did what you said.
I've tried several times to start the game and save my family to the library, but it stops working and I get the message ''program stopped working'' and I have to close the program.
I've also tried to split my family to save individually, but happened the same.
Finally I've tried to move my family to a new town, but also stopped working.
I'm very sad and confused. I really don't know what else can I do. :'(
*Everytime I try to play with this family and try to save the game, it doesn't save and I get the ''error 12'' - that's why I want to save the family to start a new game.
Sorry for posting my question here. I'm also confused about it, because in the instructions G4TW says not to create a new topic with the same question...

Unfortunately, there aren't that many ways to get back corrupted items from the game...

Sorry, but I don't know if I understood.
You mean my game (saved file) is corrupted?
I have many files saved of this family. If it's corrupted, how
could I save them in the occasion? (saves from nov, dec/13).
I've tried to start almost all of them in order to save my family to the library.
In the other hand, I have the "Dashboard'' program which G4TW recommended and it doesn't show any issues with these saved games.
I'm not sure, but it seems I can pick up one of those files inside the saved game which is the family... is it true?

Nope, but I have another idea!
Please export your family from inside the game. Then exit (saving or not doesn't matter).
Then go to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Exports, and copy the file to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads.
Then, goto the Launcher, and make sure it is installed (just like any other Custom Content). Then you will find it inside your game!

Corrupted saved games are marked .bad in the folder...

I'm very excited with your idea... but how can I ''export'' my family?
Do I have to be logged on or had created an account? Is this ''export'' you're talking about? I'm totally noob, please be patient... Wink

Go to edit town
Select the household, then click the blue button that looks like a little pin with rays coming out of it (Share) and the family will be exported to your computer.
