anyway so I had a very small suggestion that not everyone might not be thinking that way.
Suggestion: Can anybody change the background of this site?
I mean here is such a BRIGHT site but the background is black.
It's kind of depressing.
I hope nobody finds this offensive.

Yes, I get your idea. And it's not offensive.  

But you should keep in mind that by choosing a "color theme" (for a website) you also want to make the font color(s) contrasting to the background color: This basically means that your font color(s) are then clearly visible and readable. For example, here you'll find many important notices in "red" font color, which meansd that the highlighted text is important. Not all background colors create this contrast between "red" and "black". Of course, to some extent it's a matter of taste (too), but I personally find this background 'comfortable', in terms of readability.

Maybe the Admins will think about it though, but personally, I find the current setup still fitting.   And thank you for the very nice words !

No, of course your suggestion isn't stupid.

My personal opinion is that with this dark background, most currently available font colors "mix well". So the standard font color being white, it works well with the dark background. (I'd rather have a white text on a dark background, rather than a dark font color on a light background).

So I find that the dark background was a good choice.

But let's see what the Admins say about this.
