The Sims 3 - EA authentication versus Pirate Copies of Expansions
Hi there,
I have recently been thinking of investing in the official base game of The Sims 3, however I came across a post about EA's authentication servers that would take notice of if you have combined illegal acquired expansions with the official base game - Can anyone confirm whether this is true or not?
Because it won't be worth much having a legal copy + illegal copies of expansions then.

It works fine. I bought the base game, and I got all my expansions and stuff packs through here and I've never had any problems at all.

Thanks for the reply. However EA have initiated some initiatives (Been searching around for a while) and they said that EA was tracking through Origin to see whether their was usage of illegal copies? So I just wondered if there was any truth to it. It would be a bummer wasting money on the original base game only to be banned/blocked.angelbtx wrote:It works fine. Hello and welcome!
Well if you want you can uninstall Origin but I don't think that's true cause I bought most of my expansion packs and I got the stuff packs from here and I still have Origin.
It didn't cause me any trouble YET!
But that's just my personal experience and it might be different for other people.

I guess there would be a difference between bringing in 3rd party stuff like cc and mods, but to actually install illegal copies of the expansions in addition to the legal copy of the base game

I have origin copies of 3 of the games. I installed all the expansions and stuff packs through here. I have been doing this and had origin since the Sims 3 came out and G4TW started providing them. There is no issue with this. I even have all the store content from elsewhere and it works just fine. Happy Simming!
